This review is NOT about the hotel but only about the Riviera Restaurant inside the hotel, Hilton needs to know.
Honestly, seeing such a beautiful restaurant and location deteriorate terribly year after year is truly sad. There's nothing Italian about it except the name. The wine list is extremely limited, with only two Italian white wines, Pinot Grigio, one of the most commercial and low-quality Italian wines (and anyway they weren't both available). Otherwise, the menu is the same as you'd find in any other American restaurant at much more reasonable prices. The lobster roll was super tiny and poorly prepared (it was not a brioche bread), and the lobster meat was not fresh, dry, lacking butter and flavor. More than a luxury restaurant, it feels like a restaurant struggling, unsuccessfully, to keep its doors open. Only the bill was "luxury"! I definitely won't be returning; a total disappointment.

Pros:
Amazing service at the front desk.
Big and clean rooms
Great location
Great valet parking service
Cons:
Breakfest is extremely slow and is not good, I would recommend not paying for it and eat somewhere else.
Poor water pressure

Overall, the room was very nice, with a private balcony on a high floor offering great views. The staff were also excellent throughout the hotel. However, the onsite restaurant was disappointing. Food took a very long time – up to an hour – to reach the pool. The complementary bikes aren't good quality, bad treds, only 3 gears, don't unlock with an android phone and was a pain to unlock with the iphone. I really liked the hotel but the resort fee is a scam. Free daily drink is a well liquor or a bud light.

I sent the following to corporate Hilton and the Manager of the hotel...I believe the narrative describes our experience in a nutshell...word to the wise be careful booking this hotel and believing what you booked???
"Good morning,
I attempted to check into the Maren Hotel Ft Lauderdale yesterday for a 3 night stay. After being prodded by email to check in online I did that but I also spoke to at least 2 different Hilton representatives to insure that our room would be on a high floor with a decent ocean view.
When we arrived at the hotel we were assigned a room on the first floor with actual guest rooms with no ocean view whatsoever. I can't even imagine treating a Hilton honors member worse than the way we were treated to celebrate a personal milestone anniversary. We were told that if we stayed in our room assigned for the night that they could change us to a better view (honestly any room in the hotel probably would have had a better ocean view) the next day. But when I asked if that was 100% for sure they told us no...seriously...
We decided not to check into our "non" ocean view room and we were told that our reservation would be canceled by the front desk and we would not be charged but of course the hotel could only provide a cursory note to reflect this very negative and unsatisfactory event. Thank you for ruining a milestone anniversary with my lovely and beautiful wife.
(PS your picture on the website that depicts the view of the ocean view room bore no resemblance to the room and view we received)"
