I want to start by saying that I stay at Hilton properties about 90% of the time when I travel, and this review may seem a bit detailed in certain areas but that’s because Hilton is in its own category. We do pay above the average price to stay with them, and therefore, expectations are naturally higher.
With that being said, I’ll start with the highlights and then move on to some areas that could use improvement.
The Positives:
The included breakfast here is beyond what you would expect. They offer just about everything you can think of, plus a station where a chef will make you any type of omelet you’d like which is amazing. The staff has been nothing short of excellent. We arrived around 10:00 a.m., even though check-in isn’t until 4:00 p.m., since we had just gotten off a cruise and had nowhere else to go. The team kindly stored our luggage for us, allowing us to enjoy the hotel and the surrounding area (there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance). This small gesture really made a difference for us. The rooms were also very clean, as expected, but still worth mentioning.
The Negatives:
There were a few things that, for a Hilton, I found unacceptable.
We booked a double queen room with a balcony, which is slightly more expensive than the standard double queen without one. However, as shown in the photos, the exterior section of that part of the hotel was being painted. While I appreciate that the property is being maintained, we paid for balcony access and did not have it. This was not communicated to us beforehand, and nothing was offered to make up for the extra cost we paid. A simple “sorry for the inconvenience” didn’t feel like enough considering we essentially paid for an upgraded feature we couldn’t use.
The pool area was great, as expected, but the jacuzzi appeared extremely dirty, so much so that we chose not to get in because of how unclean it looked.
Lastly, we booked this hotel of the main reasons because it advertised “airport transportation included.” Typically, when something is listed as “included,” it means it’s free with your stay just like when a meal comes with a drink included. However, in this case, the transportation was available for purchase, not actually included. It was $12 per person, which felt misleading, especially since we were able to get a large Uber (XXL) for $18 total for four people.
Overall:
It was a good stay, and I would consider staying here again if needed. However, I do feel that some improvements should be made especially for the price point and the reputation that Hilton represents for guests like me who stay with them all over the world.
