We have consistently stayed at this hotel prior to our cruises (20+ years). I want to give a shout out to the amazing staff who went above and beyond to send my husband’s hearing aids to our ship that we left behind at the hotel. I unfortunately did not get the gentleman’s name who helped us but every staff member goes above and beyond to help cruisers. The day we left the elevators were an issue but again the staff handle the situation with great care and attention.

This hotel had a spacious, clean room, though the property itself is outdated. We were on the 11th floor and the water pressure was very lacking & it only offered lukewarm hot water. The included breakfast was very good and offered ample seating. We were walking distance from many places. The bed was comfortable but it was noisy outside until about 11pm. We stayed here prior to a cruise, and the hotel was extremely full. Unfortunately, only two of the five elevators were operational, creating excessive wait times and dangerous overcrowding. Guests packed into elevators simply to ride up and then back down, further worsening the situation. When I was finally able to get on an elevator, I had to assist elderly guests struggling with walkers and luggage. I contacted the front desk to express concern about the safety of elderly guests on upper floors. The front desk attendant was dismissive and stated that staff were assisting guests in the lobby & elevator repair people had been contacted. When asked how guests on other floors were being helped, the same response was repeated. This is a serious safety concern and an accident waiting to happen. I personally walked down 11 flights of stairs, but many guests—especially the elderly—do not have that option. If another elevator were to fail while already overcrowded, the outcome could be dangerous. All the staff were very friendly EXCEPT the front desk. I fear I’m going to be hauling my suitcases down 11 flights of stairs but I am worried about all the elderly. On 2 stops while trying to get to my room, families put an elderly person in the elevator and said they wld take the stairs with the remaining luggage. Someone is going to fall down the stairs next. It’s a decent hotel as long as the elevators are working.

Our room wasn’t ready for about an hour after our scheduled check-in, which could have been frustrating—but Carol at the front desk completely turned the experience around. She was incredibly understanding, kind, and genuinely helpful, and she made sure we were taken care of and got a room as soon as possible. Later, when she had a free moment, she even took the time to start a friendly conversation with us, which really showed how much she cares about guests. Carol’s warmth and hospitality made what could have been a negative experience into a really positive one, and it honestly made both of our days. She’s exactly the kind of person you hope to see at a hotel reception, and I would happily return to this hotel just because of her.

Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever been e stayed in. The rooms were gross. Our tub had peeling acrylic, which we didn’t notice until we had already unpacked. Toliet would clog. Drain in tub was super slow. AC unit rattled for 2 days and then barely worked the 3rd day. Food trash left in the hallways. Food trays and plates left across from our door all day. Literal meat chunks on the carpet. The pool. The pool was the saving grace. That is it. I cannot warn you enough to just stay away.

I am utterly DISGUSTED with my brief experience with the front desk attendant at this hotel. Delivery drivers and possibly persons of color, BE CAREFUL. It was my first time stopping in to this hotel to deliver a large food order. My hands were full with two stuffed bags and a carrier with two drinks. There was a gentleman in-front being helped by the attendant but I also was not sure if I needed to wait in line, so I said to the attendant WHILE she was searching her desk and not actively speaking to the gentleman infront of me “ Excuse me— Do I need to wait in line or can I head straight up to deliver”. She didn’t respond so I said “ Ma’am?” She sharply said that she is helping a customer and she’ll be with me. Ok…. A bit rude , but I did interrupt before she was done serving the initial customer entirely, so I responded with a calm “okay”. Once she was done attending to the gentleman, she asked me if I was checking in and I said no that I am here for a delivery. She then proceeded to berate me in front of those behind me in the lobby stating something along the lines of “Let me tell you something… if you are going to enter my establishment you DO NOT disrespect my customers, If I am talking to someone you wait your turn and do not interrupt me. You need to show some respect or else you cannot be enter !!! “ this is amongst some other things she said that I cannot remember entirely … but the manner of which she spoke to me was as if I was her child. It was extremely disrespectful and demeaning when I treated this woman with nothing but respect. Feeing slighted I responded to her “ I am not your child, do not talk to me that way !” And she then demanded to know the company that I was delivering for and then threatened to CALL THE POLICE. I never in my entire life have been threatened this way. After I said “maam please allow me to do my job and deliver this food “ she asked for the room number and said “Here at embassy you are allowed to go straight up but do not harass/disrespect my customers!!! “ I felt so furious and embarrassed after that interaction that she felt it was okay to speak to anyone that way. It would’ve been one thing if she spoke kindly to say “Ma’am, you may proceed up without checking in with an attendant, but next time please do not interrupt a check in—even if we aren’t actively talking.” But instead she spoke to me like I was an imbecile. I am a graduate student making some change in the interim until I graduate and begin in my field so making deliveries is not something that is long term for me. HOWEVER, there are people where this is their livelihood and need to deliver food to survive! Imagine how someone in that predicament would feel after being talked down to that way. It was truly disheartening and disgusting. Upon completing my order I very calmly asked the woman at the front desk for her name so I could escalate this incident and she refused to give me her name. She then picked up the phone and said that she was calling the police. For asking for her name? She knew that what she just did was wrong and she didn’t want to be held accountable. I told her that I would be taking her photo and posting a Google review. I will also be following up with customer relations because this is UNACCEPTABLE.
