Upon checking into my room, I was extremely dissatisfied to find that it was dirty and not in acceptable condition for a Hilton hotel. I immediately called the front desk to report the issue and requested that someone come to clean the room or replace the linens. During that call, when I asked what time someone would be coming to address the issue, the individual abruptly hung up on me. This was both unprofessional and unacceptable.
I then went downstairs to speak with the front desk in person and discussed the situation. She acknowledged the issue and assured me that the points used for that night would be returned to my account. Due to the condition of the room and the way the situation was handled, I refused to stay at the property and instead checked into a different Hilton location that same evening.
Update: they are tearing down the building and building new condos on the space.

This hotel is average AT BEST, but could be great. Currently, it’s a dump. There are so many positives, but unfortunately they are overshadowed by the negatives. To be fair, we were there on a holiday week that also included an event crowd (Orange Bowl). This meant the prices were much higher, but the service/accommodations did not match the price. Also, I do not think this is an employee issue (they were absolutely understaffed, but those working were busting their butts).
Positives first:
- LOCATION
- Pool area
- Beach access and amenities
- Parking was always readily available and easy
- Texting desk feature: Each employee I interacted with was polite and helped me resolve issues
Negatives:
- “Historic” marina building: If you get a room in this building, immediately decline. It should be condemned; it’s not safe or healthy. The elevator did not work, there were water leaks on every floor and our “balcony” sliding door was so warped it would not even close. One night in this room (only because it was late and we were exhausted) and then I demanded a move to the tower. It was about a .5 star better, but worth the move.
- Rooms: They are TIRED! A beach hotel should not have carpet in rooms; maybe it had been vacuumed, but you couldn’t tell. The bathroom flooded with each shower because the drains barely worked. The drywall is so warped wall plugs were unpredictable. The hair dryer was as old as myself and only blew cold air. I was grateful I had Clorox wipes to wipe down the side of the bed and nightstand as left-over pizza sauce was crusted to the surface. The blackout curtains had holes so we got polka-dot sunshine each morning.
- Hotel atmosphere: Very little upkeep. I saw the same paper straw and lime wedge in the elevator for 3 days. There are carpet mats in the elevators that filthy and dangerous.
- Lobby atmosphere: The lobby furniture is worn and stained; it’s also very limited. Because it was a big football weekend, people wanted to gather and watch. There just wasn’t any space for that. The hotel bartenders were working hard to accommodate, but it was impossible. The few tables in the bar area were attempting to also serve as a “restaurant” to host an NYE dinner. The space just couldn’t be two things at once.
I absolutely know I sound like a complainer in this review, but I’m trying to put some honesty out there in hopes that someone with the ability to help will. I believe this hotel could truly be GREAT! Maybe the best on the beach.

Guys be careful before booking at this location as they have molded comforters and gross yellow colored water in shower and at the sink for brushing your teeth!! You can look at the pictures below and see if you’d like to stay here and waste your hard earned money !
It’s not always about location , important part is the cleanliness and hygiene of the rooms where you’d be sleeping !!
Their breakfast at Breeze bar is a rip off too as they charge you 18% gratuity without asking or informing you !! If you eat breakfast Buffet, one day Buffett breakfast will cost you $86.00 per person!!!
Their house cleaning is for name sake only, their crew does not clean rooms , just replenish towels and make your bed without changing any sheet or dusting, wiping or vacuum!!
Bottom line is that Hilton standard is down the drain and they can’t even provide simple standard service which even small roadside motels provide!!!

As a Hilton Honors member, I generally have high expectations, and overall our stay at Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach was enjoyable.
The staff and service were excellent—consistently friendly, and professional. The pool area was clean and attractive, though the music was often quite loud. With many families and children present, this sometimes took away from the relaxing atmosphere.
The main drawback was the bathroom in our room (see images). While the rest of the room felt updated, the bathroom was clearly antiquated and unrenovated. Hot water took nearly five minutes to come through, which was inconvenient and noticeably out of step with the rest of the room.
Hilton’s “Make It Right” motto sets a strong standard, and addressing these bathroom upgrades would better align the property with the level of quality Hilton guests expect. With those improvements, this would be a standout stay.

The good:
Location very convenient, some employees were very nice and made the stay feel special( breakfast staff, gentleman that checked us in late in the evening)
Housekeeping was very nice as well and courteous.
Rooms were quiet and not noisy at all.
The neutral:
Parking was very expensive. 50+ dollars a day for self parking, fortunately it was close to the hotel
Breakfast is pricey but there are a couple of options. A-la-carte makes the most sense at about 15$ per person before tax and tip.
The bad:
While some of the things sound good on paper(2 drink vouchers per day as part of the resort fee, tokens for coffee at the coffee shop), what you get is the most basic of the basic stuff. No speciality drinks or coffee can be used with these. A lady at the coffee shop sounded like she was doing me a favor to use my token for hot drip coffee on the last day of my stay. Another lady at the Market store I had to wait until she finished her cell phone game before she noticed I had been waiting to check out for 3 minutes.
