  Loved my stay here, the facilities were clean and operational and the breakfast was good everyday. The staff was excellent, always helpful and welcoming. It's a 5-7 min walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Restaurants and Walmart are within walking distance. The only thing they can improve upon is cleaning the hallway's better. I will definitely be back to enjoy that beautiful beach again.

  I stayed two nights at this hotel and had a pleasant experience. The woman at the front desk, Gavia, was so sweet and made my experience memorable as well. The rooms were clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious! I would pay to stay just for the breakfast again! The lobby was beautiful and had lots of areas for us to work, for kids to play and to just relax. It was so nice to see other people actually in the lobby working on their computers and kids playing and everyone enjoying themselves. It's like a big work/fun zone. Also, it's right across from Walmart and right across from the state park. Gavia was so helpful and kind and whenever I had a question she was right there with an answer for me. Thank you Gavia and... the chefs who made that delicious breakfast, and to housekeeping for keeping the place pristine. Thank you Tru By Hilto, what a great stay!

  Having stayed in many different Hilton properties in the US, Asia and Europe I decided to spend 4 days in the FL panhandle. My wife and I decided to stay in Destin at the TRU hotel. While the roomrates were fair the rest of the stay was a disaster and we will never stay at any Hilton Hotel property again. There was only one positive - the breakfast buffet. The check in was OK, friendly and efficient but from there it went all downhill. For three days although asked multiple times our toilet did not work. The plunger in the tank needed to be fixed as it would not align and keep the toilet from running nonestop. Each time I had to take of the tank lid and align the plunger in order to flush. Twice they sent somebody to the room but they had no clue what needs to be done to stop the problem. One evening I went down talking to the manager on duty that I could not find for about 5 minutes. She finally showed up with a plate of food. I explained to her the problem and what did she respond “I take care of it once I finished my dinner”. I never heard back from her and I decided that I have to take care of it myself. When I checked out three days later I told the day manager and he indicated that he would make sure that the plunger would be replaced. I doubt that it was done and room #231 is still the same. I also did not find a remote control when I got to my room. I called the front desk they brought me one. There was no concern as to what may have happened to the one before me. No concern from the attendant if someone stole it. Having spent over 20 years in the hospitality industry, mostly with Sheraton I had to solve many customer problems. To me a paying customer is always king and I would go out of my way to please them. I don’t know if the Destin property is a franchise. If it the staff gets very little of any training and there is a lack of property visits by Tru Corp. or Hilton Hotels. I had to air myself and I am not looking for any freebies. I have enough money to stay 5 Star hotels including the Conrad Hotels. There are many other options in the Destin area and I encourage you to shop around.

  I stayed here back in September with my husband, we stayed for about a week and the service was absolutely deplorable! The staff (at the front desk) were sickeningly rude! The young woman was just beyond rude (for the entire stay) and the young man was not any better. My husband went down one afternoon to purchase some drinks and the woman literally rolled her eyes and let out a massive sigh when she had to process the purchase! We called to speak to a manager after the stay and the manager actually made excuses for her (staffs) horrible behavior, she did not once take accountability for anything. And by the way, the water pressure was SO bad in the unit, that we had to go and purchase a shower head (for low water pressure) So, I would absolutely never recommend this location, unless you want to get treated poorly.

  Took a week in Destin with the family. Kids got bunk beds, which they enjoyed. Wife and I got a large bed, though it was hard. Place was clean, well maintained. Breakfast was the same everyday, needs some variety. Pools were enjoyable, the outside showers to rinse off helped. Employees were friendly and helpful.
