Very disappointed with our experience at the Ocean seven restaurant in The Hiatus Hotel. We made a reservation well in advance specifically for a sunset-view table. When we arrived, they told us a large group was seated in that area and placed us behind a pillar, in one of the worst spots in the restaurant — completely different from what we had booked. What made it worse is that we only heard a simple “I’m sorry” — no real effort to solve the situation, no alternative options, and no attempt to make things right. Considering the view was the main reason we chose this place, the lack of care and poor management completely ruined the experience.

The rooms were great. Clean and well maintained. The only issue we had was with pool bar staff. Waitress was more interested in playing with pos system. Forgot our order twice. We will be back for another stay vacation. All the staff was great but the pool bar person.

Everything was fine until our last day. Dropped our vehicle with the valet (there’s no parking on the property except valet service) and attempted to get our vehicle back 5 minutes later and was told I had to use the valet app which was on my girlfriend’s phone who was unavailable. I tried to explain and was ignored by the valet. I went up to the 7th floor lobby and asked the receptionist how I was supposed to get my vehicle. She said she would call Jonathan the GM. About 10 minutes goes by and Jonathan greets the receptionist and commences conversing with her for another couple minutes, calls my girlfriend (thank God she answered) to get permission for me to have my vehicle. Jonathan then addresses me. Doesn’t ask anything but proceeds to explain how their hotel has a current lawsuit for giving vehicles to people other than their owner. Told him I didn’t care I just want my car. Try’s talking over me, to no avail, then goes back and starts snickering with the receptionist. Think it’s over? Nope! I return to the valet and he still will not give me the keys. He is on the phone with who I assume was the GM the entire time giving them a play by play of the situation. The valet wanted me to verify the name on the reservation AGAIN! I refused and said I would just go back to the front desk. Whoever was on the phone finally gives the valet permission to give me the keys. What a huge waste of time! What got me the most is that the staff involved thought it was entertainment. I will visit a Veteran friendly hotel when I come back in 2 weeks I’m sure the GM will give some canned response about how they appreciate how we chose them and appreciate our feedback. Well Jonathan, that would have been helpful yesterday

Well appointed, modern hotel in a great location. Rooms - the decor was certainly not the standard Hilton (as you would expect from a Curio Collection) and felt warm and inviting. We had a room for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) which provided plenty of space with 2 queen beds, separate lounge area and a spacious entrance. Plenty of USB charging ports throughout the room. Bathroom was large with 2 sinks, separate toilet, and a good size shower area. Not quite a 5 star score as one side of each bed did not have a bed side table which was annoying and the balcony only had one seat (for a room that could sleep four). It would have been preferable to have the mini bar stocked (fridge was empty) as well. There only appeared to be one elevator working during our stay which led to long waits at times. Service - valet was efficient and friendly with the family (note - valet only parking here). Check in was quick, Hilton status acknowledged and the F&B credit explained. Small gift for the kids was a nice touch. Bar was the highlight- great wine list and attentive staff. Place a nice buzz about it. Location - right on the beach and a short walk to shops and restaurants. We did not eat dinner or breakfast there so can’t comment on the food. Overall, would definitely go back. The minor niggles were insignificant to the overall stay.
