As I got up to the reception desk, the ladies were warm and personable with fun personalities to boot. I decided to stop by the C store before heading up, where again the cashier was kind and helpful. As I made my way to the room, I was greeted by kind smiles, and warm welcomes from housekeeping staff who were working on rooms. I am so thankful that this is where my stay will be.

I immediately contacted the front desk and requested an urgent room change. What followed was a frustrating and exhausting process: multiple trips up and down the elevator to exchange key cards, first being assigned a king-bed room that didn’t meet our needs, then having to go back again for a twin room. After finally moving, we realized our phone charger had been left in the original room, which meant yet another trip. As a result, on New Year’s Eve - while others were celebrating - we spent the evening changing rooms. At such a symbolic moment of the year, the experience felt particularly unsettling. By the time we finally settled in, it was almost midnight. As I was about to shower, my son said, “You go ahead - it’ll feel like you’re showering through the whole year.” The next morning at checkout, the front desk said nothing. No acknowledgment, no apology - just calm as usual, as if nothing had ever happened. This was the hotel I once trusted, a place associated only with fond memories. But after this experience, perhaps I won’t be coming back again.
