We had a great stay at the Hilton Motto Hotel. Although the room was small, it was well laid out, cozy, and offered enough space for our needs and luggage. The bunk beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean, and we experienced no issues with cleanliness. The hotel’s location is excellent—just a short walk from the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Station.

I just love this Motto hotel, and stay here every time I need to overnight in DC. It’s clean and perky and has a great arty lobby and great bar but most importantly, the people who work at the front desk are friendly, interesting and impeccable. This time Lamrana and Amaka took care of me and were fun, friendly, and engaging. I can’t say enough about this hotel and.Lamrana and Amaka made it even better! Stay here on your next visit and you’ll see what I mean.

This was our second stay at Motto, and it was excellent both times, and I appreciated the consistency. Every person who works there was friendly and helpful, genuinely great customer service. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the location is convenient. We don’t spend much time in the room when we visit DC, so getting a more compact room at such a great rate is perfect. Highly recommended.

Tiny room concept is well executed. Room rates are really great, especially for a convenient location. Fall of 2023 this hotel felt new and fresh. Perfect place to leave your things while exploring DC, with a comfortable bed to sleep in. Fall of 2025 and the hotel's popularity shows. The wear and tear, particularly the bathroom, is disappointing. Putting $50 toward maintenance of the $700 toilet would be easy and ensure no wasted water. More important, though, would be to address the bad water. The smell of sulphur and burnt hair is really off-putting. Enough to make you want to use bottled water to brush your teeth.

Make sure to take pictures of every inch of the room before you check out. This hotel doesn't even train their own maids to differentiate between the bottles of water that are sold by Hilton versus water bottles that guests bring on their own to the hotel.
I was charged $8 because the maids lied and said I drank the two water bottles that were in the room. I didn't get an apology nor a refund when I inquired about the $8 charge. I wasn't provided any itemized hotel receipt. I was just accused of drinking the two water because the maids said so. It doesn't matter if this is a language barrier issues or unawareness on the housekeeper's behalf. ALL staff in this establishment SHOULD know what the water bottle brand is and what the water bottles look like especially when they are selling them - this should include both the housekeepers AND the front desk employees. The unprofessional behaviors of both the housekeeping staff and the front desk staff are actually absurd. This isn't good customer service when the customer doesn't come first nor when they accuse the customer for doing something the customer didn't do. I know this is something minor but let's say the cleaning staff stole the tv or the clock or the desk, are they going to immediately accuse the paying customer for the "incidentals"? If they're so quick to doing it for two UNTOUCHED water bottles, I'm scared to find out what else they would do for future customers. Ergo, I'm leaving this comment hear to warn others. Always take pictures of your room before you check out because you don't know what this establishment will accuse you of doing and charge you "incidentals" blindly without any confirmation with the customer. You have been warned.
