This DoubleTree in Stamford is mamash a gevaldige place to crash when you’re on the road and need a normal, geshmak hotel — not a shvitz and not a shtetl either 😄. First of all, the lobby is fancy enough that you feel like you should be wearing a hat and jacket just to walk through it, but the staff is warm and pleasant like you’re a regular.
And the famous DoubleTree cookie? Oy… that’s not a cookie, that’s a whole nisayon. You walk in thinking you’re being “healthy,” and then they hand you that warm cookie and suddenly you’re doing teshuvah after the second bite.
The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable — no funny business, no weird smells, everything worked. The bed was so comfortable I almost missed my schedule. Bathroom was nice and clean, towels on point, and everything felt taken care of.
Bottom line: if you’re looking for a solid hotel in Stamford that’s respectable, clean, and easy, this place is a no-brainer. Mamash worth it.
Probably the worst Hilton hotel I have ever seen.
We stopped for a night with our 9 months and 6 years old daughters but decided not to stay in this hotel due to the state of the rooms for a $200 a night fee (+$25 overnight parking).
On a positive note, the staff was very helpful, reactive and proposed to switch us to other rooms, all looking the same (see pictures).
I didn’t know Hilton was operating hotels in such poor conditions. It’s a shame.
We ended up going to another hotel close by and were not charged for the night.
Beware of bed bugs
I stayed here in late November for 2 nights. The first night I arrived in the evening, quickly was given a room and went to park my car. Once I went to my room it was a bit run down but what I have come to expect of this hotel, furniture is chipped, poorly patched walls, and there is a wet smell. That night i had trouble sleeping, the heater was making strange noises all night and I felt a bit itchy, this should have been a sign but I figured it was from how dry the room was. The next morning when I woke up I noticed my shoulder had a bit of blood on it, this led me to check my sheet and sure enough there was a dead bug.
When I went to the front desk they first offered me a free breakfast, I had to ask for a room change. Once I asked they did give it to me, this room did not have any bugs that i found. They told me a manager would reach out later that morning to discuss what they could do, potentially comp the first night. I never heard from the manager.
The next day when I went to check out, I mentioned not hearing from the manager about the bed bugs and again was told they would reach out about potentially comping the first night. While speaking with the front desk they confirmed it was a bed bug and from the sound of it there was more than i found. Again they did not call.
This facility is like an Anti-advertisement for Hilton and Double Tree.
The lobby is gorgeous, but don't be tricked. It is just a façade.
The elevator button panels are loose, the interior walls of the elevator are marred. The hallways and carpet are worn, dated, and scraped up from years of neglect. Doorway trim is sagging or missing.
In the room, the floors are not level, the mini-fridge sits on the floor by the window near the foot of the bed waiting to stub the first toe to pass in the night, the cord meandering under the drapes -- can you say "trip hazard?" The wallpaper is damaged and sagging from the walls. Air vents are rusted and dirty, the bathtub is cracked, the floor is freezing.
The elevator and walkway to the parking garage reeks of mamajuana, and it is unclear how the $25 parking fee is tracked.
And the doors slamming throughout the night while the other "guests" paraded up and down the hallway was an additional symptom of the lack of hotel quality.
The location is great! Just a short walk to the office, but the decaying building is not worth the convenience.
If I worked for the Hilton in any position of authority, I would remove the Hilton name and logo from appearing at the property.

I’ve been waiting to give my review of this hotel until I got my points and stays for my status.
Well after contacting the hotel directly and getting no response I decided to let Hilton Corporate get into this matter and get me my points, one and a half months later I finally got credited.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Stamford shouldn’t even carry the Hilton name, it’s one of the biggest letdowns I’ve ever experienced in the Hilton system, from a hotel that’s falling apart, leaky roofs, and rooms that look like they’re from a motel 6 (Haven’t been updated since the 80s), a constantly flowing toilet, bad water pressure.
Look honestly the list can go on, and on the day of Check-Out ALL elevators failed.
I really don’t have any positives, this hotel used to be under the Hilton brand name so it recently got demoted.
Several issues of this property needs to be addressed, update your rooms, fix the leaks, get better employees, and bump it up to what I expect to see at a Hilton property, not a Choice Hotels property.
Also thank you for never responding to my complaint directly and ending my calls, real professional.
