The recent remodel is a disaster! The rooms have no closet or dresser, the toilets are the height of kindergarten toilets. The beds are low and the desk chair is ridiculous! This is very sad as we have been coming here for 10 years for sporting events. We will find a new hotel after this weekend! So disappointing.

The actual room itself was average at best. I was glad to hear they are remodeling a lot of the rooms as I have stayed in better rooms for the same price. The shower was small and water pressure low, as was the time of hot water. Loved the staff they were super friendly and helpful, parking was a breeze. The location was close to downtown and one could walk to most places on 16th street mall. Ultimately though the quality of the room brought the rating down for me from 4 stars to 3.

The Curtis DoubleTree Hotel, Denver – A Masterclass in Mediocrity I recently had the misfortune of staying at The Curtis DoubleTree Hotel in Denver for a business conference. Let me be clear: this property is an embarrassment to the Hilton name and a perfect example of how nostalgia, neglect, and bad management can merge into one spectacular failure. The rooms, while nominally clean, were as inspiring as a tax audit. The furnishings looked as though they had been purchased during the Eisenhower administration and lightly dusted ever since. The real insult, however, was the elevator system, which belongs in a museum rather than a functioning hotel. Four sluggish, temperamental units from the mid-twentieth century serve the entire property. Each trip was a gamble between tedium and entrapment. Guests were encouraged by printed signs to “take the stairs.” A fine idea, except the stairwell doors were inexplicably locked from the inside. To descend from the fourth floor to the second, one had to go all the way down to the lobby, exit, and then summon another malfunctioning elevator to go back up. Brilliant engineering. The fitness center was tolerable, which is more than I can say for anything else on site. A few treadmills and resistance machines, mercifully functional, provided temporary distraction from the pervasive gloom. I half expected a separate “usage fee” for daring to use it, given the hotel’s growing list of invented surcharges. Then there is the décor. The property appears to have been “reimagined” by someone who lost a bet with a color wheel. Imagine taking an old, failing building and slapping on a theme that could best be described as “discount toy store chic.” Tacky murals, garish signage, and cheap lighting fixtures all combine to form a visual migraine. It is an aesthetic that mistakes irony for style. For the rates they charge, I expected Hilton refinement. What I found instead was an amusement park designed by accountants. The business conference itself was held in cramped, outdated rooms with the charm of an airport storage closet. The hotel’s AV technicians, evidently trained in the fine art of failure, managed to deliver an audio-visual experience that was entirely without audio. Microphones died mid-session, projectors flickered, and the entire event felt like a bad high school talent show. The bathrooms were adorned with attempts at humor printed on the walls. Juvenile quips that might amuse a teenager, but which were entirely out of place in a professional venue. It takes effort to be both smarmy and juvenile, but somehow this hotel achieved it. Downtown Denver is already gray, desolate, and tired. Staying at this hotel compounds the melancholy. The entire experience exudes neglect, as though everyone involved has long since stopped caring. And then there is the “resort fee.” A stunning insult. The idea of paying a premium for the privilege of existing in this architectural tragedy borders on farce. There are budget inns along the interstate that offer more comfort and dignity without the pretension of irony-themed wallpaper. Hilton should be ashamed to have its name attached to this property. The Curtis is a perfect case study in how branding cannot disguise decay. I left with the distinct impression that the only renovation this building truly deserves is demolition. Final Impression: An overpriced, overhyped, underperforming embarrassment. Stay elsewhere. Anywhere else.

If you leave something you’ll never get it back. Even if you know right where it is and call them 10 minutes after you leave but you have just enough time to get to a concert. I’ve tried several times, have spoken with several people and left several messages. I immediately filled out the online lost item report and left a description. After speaking with 5 different people one finally said she found the item. I sent them a prepaid postage label and they sent me the WRONG item…it was NOTHING like the one I described that I lost. Now no one will return my calls. It has been a total joke.

**EDIT**: 5 minutes after posting this review, my Wife went down to the front desk. She then tried to go back to the room on elevator 4 and the elevator GOT STUCK she was trapped inside with claustrophobia and had to have the fire department come to the building and get her out of the elevator!! She tried the "call" button, but there was no response. Fortunately her phone had service in the elevator, so she was able to call the front desk. It's extremely dangerous and upsetting that the features of the elevator that are meant to signal for help are also non-functional.** We stayed at The Curtis DoubleTree Hilton in Denver from October 29, 2025, and it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. When we checked in, we were told the hot water would be shut off at 10 AM the next morning for about 4 hours due to repairs. Annoying, but we adjusted and even canceled our dinner plans so we could work around it before going to a show at Red Rocks. What we didn’t expect was hours of loud sawing, clanking, and banging pipes echoing through our walls, making it impossible to relax. At one point, all water (not just hot) was turned off completely. The only “apology” offered for all this was a complimentary water bottle. When we got back late that night around 11 PM, the hot water still didn’t work. We went to bed assuming it would be fixed overnight — but it wasn’t. No hot water again the next morning. When we called the front desk, we were told they could “send someone from engineering” but weren’t offered a room change, refund, or even basic empathy. To top it off, the shower drain cover isn’t even attached, leaving a gaping, unsanitary hole that shifts around underfoot. For a Hilton-branded property, this level of service and maintenance is unacceptable. Between the lack of communication, failure to deliver basic amenities, and total absence of hospitality, this stay felt more like a budget roadside motel than a reputable downtown hotel. Would not recommend staying here until the plumbing issues are fully resolved and management takes accountability for how guests are treated.
