Avoid this property at all cost!
Date Visited: Dec 4, 2025. This review/comment is going to be a bit long because I believe that context is required. My wife and I travel to CO multiple times a year to ski. Additionally, we travel extensively and have stayed in countless properties and property types. I personally, have stayed in hotels hundreds of nights due to a long career as a Big 4 consultant. Needless to say, I have significant experience with hotels. I can honestly say that I have never experienced anything like what I experienced at this property.
This property was becoming one of our favorites. It has a lot going for it. The location is excellent; the rooms are basic but large and functional. The food was decent, not great but decent.
The hotel has a policy prohibiting ski boots, skis, and poles from being in your room or in the lobby. By and large I personally think that this is a good policy. It prevents the rooms, elevators, and hallways from getting damaged. It also helps reduce accidents associated with wet lobby floors. To make this policy easy for the customer to follow the hotel has a ski valet located on the ground floor. By and large a great solution. I prefer not to have to tote all my gear through the hotel twice a day.
So where did it go wrong? The second day we skied at Vail and I bought new boots from Boot Mechanics that evening (If you need new boots this is the place to go). When we returned to the hotel that evening, we took most of our gear (minus my new boots and old boots) back to the ski valet. As we were walking through the lobby I was immediately stopped by the parking valet and told that I could not take my boots to my room. My intent was to pack my old boots and do a little adjustment work on the new ones.
This interaction went sideways in a way that I cannot even describe. I would have to write a novella to accurately depict the interaction. In short and not politely or even professionally, I was told that I was not allowed to take my boots to my room and a note was going to be put on my reservation directing housekeeping to report my boots. If housekeeping noted my boots in my room I would be charged a damage fee. Damage to what I am not sure. Keep in mind, they were not on my feet, wet, etc. The next part of this I could not believe. The valet manager insinuated that housekeeping may go through my bags!. What!?
I have never ever experienced such rudeness, irrationality, and utter stupidity in a business environment. Not being one to tolerate stupidity and someone telling me that I am not allowed to take a pair of boots to my room the situation became downright combative with a back and forth lasting around 20 minutes. And then another 20 minute useless conversation with the “Guest Experience Manger”. Needless to say, I took my boots to my room.
To add insult to injury, the very next morning we experienced yet another ridiculous interaction. We were going back to Vail. I brought my boots down in my boot bag, loaded them in our car, went to the ski valet to get the rest of our gear. I brought our skis and poles to the car using the outside steps and sidewalk that leads to the front of the hotel. My wife retrieved her boots from the ski valet and instead of walking up the icy stairs and sidewalk she used the elevator. As she was walking through lobby to the car in her regular shoes carrying her dry boots that she had just gotten from the ski valet she was, and I am not exaggerating verbally accosted by hotel staff. It was unreal. Not, “good morning Dr. S, not "can we help you with your gear, etc.” Instead, she got, “you are not allowed to have your boots in here…” and on and on. I could not believe how aggressive, hateful, and disrespectful these little tool bags were being and to a woman nonetheless. I had enough and nearly lost it. Thankfully, my wife is the sweetest person on earth and was able to calm me down.
In summation, we will not be going back to this property.

*0/5 estrellas - NO RECOMENDADO.

After reading the reviews from the last five months and noting that you had responded to each one, I see that many things still haven't changed. First, when we looked out of the room we were assigned after taking several elevators, we saw a huge brown tower. Looking to the right, the view was acceptable. Since my wife, who has COPD, would have difficulty walking such a long distance, we decided to change rooms. At our request, we moved to a room on the fifth floor with a very limited view. To avoid making a fuss, we didn't complain. In the evening, we decided to go to Main Street and requested a shuttle. We were given a piece of paper and told to go to the website. After waiting for half an hour and the shuttle not arriving, we went in our son's car, who had come to visit us. This morning, we used the shuttle service to go to the main gondola station. When we asked how to request a shuttle for the return trip, we were again told to use the website. Let's say I have a very old phone and can only make calls. I would have no choice but to call the hotel and request a shuttle. Anyway, I ordered a shuttle from the given address. They said it would arrive in four minutes, and I started tracking it on the screen. It dropped to two minutes, but after ten minutes, it still hadn't arrived. After calling a second time and complaining, I was told it would arrive in five minutes. After waiting in the cold for half an hour, we arrived back at the hotel on a bus that stopped about 200 yards away. We were able to return to the hotel 45 minutes after placing our initial order. Despite trying to explain the situation to the reception, I unfortunately only received a long-winded explanation in return. We returned to the room at 2:15 pm and found that it hadn't been cleaned yet. They came to clean at 3:15 pm. We are here for two more nights and one more day. We will inevitably get through this period, knowing that we have no choice but to comply with these unsatisfactory conditions at your hotel. In response, you will apologize, as you always do, expressing how sorry you are. But this time, it would be more logical to skip the apologies and try to find solutions to the problems that are causing the inconvenience.
We stayed during the past week. We didn’t get a balcony even though I had booked it in advance for a balcony. Other than the front desk staff and that the hotel looked really nice and the rooms were beautiful, it was a very basic experience. The hotel has no option other than valet parking and this is not clear online and it’s $50 per day so be aware of that expectation. When I got there I was asked by a valet associate if I needed help with luggage and I said yes then the man just left and didn’t help me. By the time the valet manager came by I had already gotten my luggage. The previous man just stood by acting like I didn’t belong there. No one but the front desk staff knew about any daily activities such as location for smores kits. They would all be very confused when I asked until I reached the front desk. The food tasted 3/5 from breakfast, lunch and dinner options and I regret not dining around Main Street instead. Expect long waits for food. The room walls are way too thin so you will hear the connected room, specially anytime they are in their restroom area. To top it off, I looked at my receipt and saw the room service tip added ten dollars to what I had tipped. Why would they not let me know if there was a mandatory fee for that? Or, why would they even tip themselves almost the same amount as if I had dined in the restaurant when all they did was deliver a $50 meal to my room? Ah, they also did not leave a DND door notice in the room and the next day the room service employee barely knocked, barely gave me time to make it to the door, before they opened the door without announcing themselves. I repeatedly said no thanks about not getting room service until the closed the door. Who doesn’t announce themselves as room service?! If we’re in the room they are not supposed to provide the service or if they see the door notice, that’s what was written online. The younger valet man at the time of check out was helpful and professional. The elevators are small and always packed so we often took the stairs. Overall, I would not recommend staying here because for the cost of the stay you would expect a much elevated experience.
