This hotel is in a convenient location, has a hip, friendly vibe, nicely appointed rooms, facility is clean and in excellent condition. The on site Schoolyard restaurant has a warm atmosphere and food was tasty. Shout out to Austin at the front desk who took care of my special requests. Overall the property exceeded my expectations and I will definitely return. Highly recommended.

- SDSteven DevolOct 21, 20252.0The one thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was the $12 parking fee that was not disclosed upfront on the Hilton app when I booked. When you're told that the total of fees is X when you book but it turns out to be Y when you find out about it by accident is a classic case of a hidden fee. That's a bummer, man. You have to scroll down to the Amenities links to discover this fee. But by then it's too late. (They did take the fee off when I discussed it with the front desk. That's great, but there's a principle here.) Had I known about the fee, I might very well have chosen a different Hilton property in SLO, a few of which were promoting the same price. Furthermore, the property's parking lot is completely unsecured, so I have trouble figuring out what I get with that extra $12. No security gate, no indoor parking. Just a lot facing a busy street that anybody can wander through. It's clearly just a revenue-boosting move. Would it kill Hilton to simply be honest about the charges? It's a shame because otherwise I'd give this place maximum stars for its service, amenities and charm. (I do love discovering the QR code that let me tip the housekeeping staff since I had no cash on hand. )
