We just finished a 3 day stay at Embassy Suites SLO. It is a really nice hotel for the price. Our room was a spacious suite with two rooms, and it was so comfortable and quiet all the time. Breakfast was good, with made to order eggs and omelets available.
The big surprise for me was that I was charged $50 for parking, even though the lot is shared with a large shopping center next door and there is tons of parking across the street from the hotel. There was no mention of a parking charge at check in, and part way though my stay I confirmed the total would be what I booked online. But when I checked the emailed receipt , there was the $50 charge. Very disappointing.

Check in was super simple and quick, my room was super clean and welcoming, the suite is nice and spacious for me to work when I'm done with meetings for the day, the hotel is centrally located to many good places to eat and grocery stores, the free drinks are great and the free breakfast has great options. Definitely happy to stay here.

Very friendly bar and restaurant staff. Nice welcome at the front desk. A bit of a typical Embassy suites hotel, but very nicely remodeled rooms, modern, clean, with crisp comfortable firm beds.

If you are looking for a relaxing hotel, this is not it. Could not stay longer than one night due to loud audible noise from the outside and inside. The entire hotel is surrounded by a major freeway on three sides and an additional road. It is in the middle/end of an outdoor mall parking lot with free parking and yet they charged me $17.00 to park in the lot. Toddlers/kids running around everywhere screaming, at 6:00 am! And I'm a teacher. No one does anything about it. It's like an indoor play gym for kids. I couldn't sleep at all.
Front desk "kids"/workers were young and immature telling me I was in the "quiet" part of the hotel and I wouldn't hear the traffic from inside???? even after I told them I could hear the traffic after checking in. It was like talking to a child. I was told when checking in that where I was had no noise from the outside. Although the building is bright and pleasant inside, they apparently skimped on everything that matters in quality.
The bed was horribly soft/very old. I had a back ache in the morning because I slept arched like I was in a cup. The bathroom sink didn't drain and was leaking all over the floor. I called and no one came. I had to put towels down. Or the toilet too? There was water behind there as well. Gross and unsanitary. When I called the gal at the front to put in the request to change rooms (possibly since by this time I'm thinking "Oh, they lie here.", I was on hold for at least 15 minutes and hung up on eventually. So I walked down to the front desk and told the other gal who checked me in I was hung up on and she said, " Ya, we're really busy." When I first walked in they were all looking down doing nothing btw. on their phones maybe???The gal who hung up the phone was helping another person but has the time make a face to her and gave her a stare about me. Very unprofessional. The front desk desperately needs training.
On top of that, the honors site still doesn't work for me (reservations added my points even thought she said she couldn't ???? but when I call no one picks up and no one else can help-so the program is useless. I have never been able to use my points or even register my points. Really disappointing experience, again. We went down the street to BW and not any noise. Hilton, spend some money and update the sliding glass doors on all your hotels and soundproof the foyer. The only normal thing was the supervisor at check out who was older and apologized and didn't deny that it was a loud hotel. I felt cheated though at $275.00 (but really $329) for a room that needed repairs and maintenance, dishonest unprofessional service, and poor quality of bed and building and she didn’t even take anything off for that. But that’s how Hilton is. They don't take accountability unless it could be a law suit. They false advertise and charge more than what they sell for the range of hotels they actually are. They are in the cheaper class of hotels it seems like even though they advertise differently. Just pay the cheaper prices somewhere else. You're getting the same thing. I travel a lot and prefer to stay in 4 or 5 star hotels, but couldn't find one in the area I needed to be in.
This was my third try for Hilton hotels. The other two times were just as bad and one worse. It seems like it's a company thing rather than individual hotels. They lie a lot. I have a hard time believing their responses to customer issues on the reviews. Just read them. Every complaint is always the customer's fault.
I felt cheated because the photographs on line of the views are lies and evidently so do the employees when you call (which I did) They failed to tell me kids stay for free btw, thus the mad rush of CHAOS all day and night long and I din’t get the room I was promised for that price. I couldn't load pictures AND a 9 second video of traffic noise with old doors closed, with no extra safety lock btw-super easy to get doors open. I'll try later.
