I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience warrants one. I am staying at the Timbri Hotel and am unable to sleep due to extremely loud, prolonged noise outside the hotel that has gone on for hours tonight. This isn't’t a brief disturbance—it has made sleep impossible. I contacted the front desk seeking help or a reasonable solution. The response I received (both verbally and in writing) was dismissive and unapologetic. I was told the hotel had “no control,” that the situation was “not an emergency,” that the hotel would not call the police, and that no compensation would be offered. The only suggestion was to pick up earplugs or “talk to a manager in the morning.” For context: I paid for a hotel room so I could sleep. Being told—while exhausted in the middle of the night—that nothing can or will be done, and that this is somehow not the hotel’s responsibility, is unacceptable. Hotels in urban environments absolutely deal with outside noise—but how they respond to guests in real time is what defines service. This response showed no empathy, no ownership, and no effort to make the situation right. Beautiful property, but deeply disappointing service. I would not stay here again and would caution others who value rest and responsive customer care.

The hotel is absolutely stunning!! However, the location is very questionable. When approaching the hotel you’re immediately greeted with severe homelessness. Which was evident throughout the day and into the night. It was visible through our window and we could also hear the commotion below. The restaurant was also questionable. I submitted an order utilizing the Online menu only to be told that a number of items were either no longer carried or not available. There was also a shortage of staff at the front desk, and in the restaurant, which was not ideal especially on New Year’s Eve. On the positive side the Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the cable car and BART. It’s also only a 10 to 15 minute walk to Union Square and the great shops surrounding it. When weighing the pro’s and cons, I’m not sure I would feel comfortable staying here again.

I don’t usually write reviews. But seeing the extreme variety of feedback for this hotel, I figured I’d throw in my (unpaid) two cents as a woman from the Bay Area. I stayed in a Corner King bedroom on the 3rd floor. I’d give this hotel 4.5 out of 5 stars. Pros: There was one or two friendly staff members at the front desk at all times. They answered any questions I had about the city’s tourism fee (hotel destination fee), our credit towards hotel drinks/snacks, and they stored our luggage easily when we wanted to explore the last day. I’m not of the mind that staff members need to entertain me with wide smiles and constant positivity. That said, they were most pleasant and extended sincerity and patience whenever I had follow-up questions. I noticed numerous reviews complaining about noise—I actually found the noise level was somewhat quiet for a downtown location. Either way, the hotel has bluetooth speakers in the bedrooms, so we played a little white noise just in case. Safety: This hotel borders the Tenderloin. There is a security guard out front, and he consistently makes sure any loitering people keep moving. Amenities: We did not visit the rooftop due to rain, but we used the gym in the basement three times and all of their equipment was working and well-maintained. Cons: Minor cosmetic scuffs; small faded coffee stain on the carpet and light yellowing on the couch. The toilet had low water level, so sometimes it felt like a chamberpot.

The hotel was nice, it had modern rooms, a comfortable bed and very nice bathroom in our room. The service was not up to par unfortunately, with the exception of one very nice front desk employee who helped me when I was overcharged for parking. (If you purchase the parking package on the Hilton app for $50 make sure the property honors that. I was charged $80 and had to have it corrected to $50) I wanted to get a late checkout which is available as part of certain Hilton Honors status tiers (subject to availability) I had to negotiate for that like I was buying a car. The front desk originally said no, they had no availability, then I said what status level I was (somthing I dont enjoy doing) and got an extra hour, then was able to negotiate an additional hour. I felt a little mislead because they said they had no availability for a late checkout, then was able to negotiate it. If there's availability just give it. Why do I have to negotiate that. With all that being said the combination of the sketchy area the hotel is in combined with the poor service, I won't return to this property. I was really bummed with the experience. I really wanted to like this hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Superior Skyline room. The room felt brand new and was impeccably clean, with a very comfortable bed and couch. I was particularly impressed by the bathroom; the water pressure was powerful, and the shower design effectively kept water from leaking onto the floor. The location is excellent. While I did notice some homeless individuals in the area, I never felt unsafe. The only area for improvement would be convenience regarding water and ice. Currently, once you finish the two complimentary bottles, you have to go to the lobby or fitness center. Adding an ice machine and water fountain to each floor would be a great upgrade for guest comfort.
