The front desk argued and did not give good options (at 10 pm, when they had better options available). The second room had lighting issues, and the beds were so springy that it was an awful nights sleep. The only decent things were location (there are plenty of other hotels) and breakfast.

- EMEvan MartinezSep 11, 20251.0This is the episode where you wake up thirsty at 1 am and realize there is no water available to you in the room. I call the front desk to ask if I could have a bottle of water brought up and just as soon as the question left my mouth, the receptionist snapped at me! She said “UNFORTUNATELY NO! I am NOT able to leave the desk for that amount of time, I’m the ONLY one here.” I didn’t know I was asking her to personally deliver the water to me and that she would become so agitated at what I thought was a simple, standard request. So in order to supply myself with water during my stay at Hampton Inn & Suites of Modesto-Salida, I had to get up, get dressed, leave my room, go down 3 floors, cross the parking lot in the dead of night and scavenge some out of my truck that I luckily found in the backseat. The doors say they lock after a certain time of night “for safety”, by the way and there was no such thing in place. I traipsed right back through the automatic double doors, past the unmanned, overwhelmed front desk girl’s would-be place and back up three floors to my room. This is not a place I would recommend to my friends, family, or future thirsty/tired/traveling self.
