    Our stay at Homewood Suites in Oxnard, California was unfortunately disappointing overall, though there were some positives. The room was very spacious, which was helpful while traveling with young children, and we appreciated having a separate living room, a full kitchen, and a dining table, which made things easier with two toddlers and a newborn. The front desk staff were kind and polite, and the maintenance worker who assisted us was very friendly. However, cleanliness issues became apparent shortly after arrival. While the newborn was feeding, my sister noticed ants on her forehead, and upon checking further, we found about 10–20 ants near the bathroom mirror along with a spider in the room. Given that we were traveling with young children and a newborn, this was concerning. After traveling 14 hours with two toddlers and a feeding newborn, the room change process took over an hour, which was extremely inconvenient. What made this more frustrating was that when we initially called about the ant issue, it felt as though staff needed to verify that the problem was real, and we had to repeatedly explain ourselves and emphasize that we were traveling with children before the concern was fully addressed. This was especially upsetting considering that, based on other reviews, the ant issue has been mentioned multiple times, including reviews from three months ago, which should have been handled by now. One review even mentioned ants in Room 328, while we were placed in Room 128, indicating this is not isolated to one room. After switching rooms, we encountered additional issues. The second room had dirty sheets with visible hair and dirt, both phones in the room did not work, and we requested clean sheets the day after switching rooms but did not receive them until two days later. We also noticed our shower curtain had been removed, and when we called to have it returned, it was simply handed to us without assistance or an apology. While the room layout and staff kindness were appreciated, the lack of cleanliness made us uncomfortable throughout our stay. Because of this experience, we would not recommend this location, especially for families traveling with young children.

    A friend of mine invited me to have dinner with him at the hotel one night. It was excellent. It was very impressed.

    The toilet was broken and the remote control for the TV didn't work. When we notified the front desk, they sent maintenance. He was courteous and efficient, (he had ro go and get several repair parts), but the process took over an hour and interrupted our getting ready process and dampened our spirits for our evening out. We notified the front desk the next day and requested additional points or discounts due to the inconvenience, but the front desk did not seem to be concerned, at all. The manager actually acted like we were to problem! We paid over $400 to stay in the hot tub suite on a Saturday for a sexy staycation. What a disappointment. (We travel a lot and have stayed in tons of hotels all around the US in the last few months and have NEVER had these problems.)

    This is a nice quiet hotel with nice suites that is in very good condition. It gets great ratings and it's very obviously why. I will make this my go to in Oxnard.

    Everyone was nice, the rooms are very clean and roomy. However, we had an ant infestation in room 328. Maintenance sprayed last night, and it was only a few in the bathroom. Woke up today, there are hundreds on the trash bag. It’s not like our room is junky or filled with food/drinks. I keep everything tidy and in the refrigerator. It was so nasty that we had to change rooms. I’m very disgusted and disappointed. Edit: The fitness center & pool are always locked during the times they claim to be open.
