I’ve been trying to extend a group reservation since last Friday. I was repeatedly told that only a manager could assist and that a manager would call me back. No one ever did.
I followed up again on Saturday and was told the same thing. When I pointed out that no one called me back on Friday as promised, I was told the manager was “out,” which makes it even more frustrating that I was told I would receive a call that day.
Today, Monday (01/12) around 3:51–3:53 PM, I called again and spoke with Brianna. I was told the manager was on lunch, but then also told that the reservation couldn’t be extended anyway. I asked why this had not been communicated to me earlier after multiple calls. At that point, Brianna hung up on me -three times- each time acting as if the call had “dropped.”
This level of communication and customer service is unacceptable, especially when dealing with group reservations that require advance planning. Very disappointing experience.

A hidden gem — officially a 3-star, but the experience feels closer to a 5-star stay thanks to the friendly staff and exceptionally clean, new rooms.

Absolutely irresponsible booking and reservation staff. Front desk raised rates without notice when online rates remain same . Any problem would be directed to customer care and they don’t know have no authority or connection to operating facilities.

We chose this hotel for our stay in Monterey. Even though it is 15 minutes drive away, I think it was worth the distance. We chose this place because parking and breakfast is included with good reviews for the breakfast. Breakfast options didn’t change for the 3 times that we ate there but I think it not more than enough to fill your stomach before leaving to explore Monterey. It has hot waffle station, Muffin station, bread and bagel station, oatmeal station, a refrigerator with cereal, milk, yogurt, boiled eggs. Best of all they have a tea/ coffee/ chocolate and water station accessible 24 hrs. Highly recommend this place.

On Saturday, October 11, 2025, we stayed one night at the Home2 Suites by Hilton – Dunes on Monterey Bay, CA. When we arrived, one of two elevators had a sign that it was out of order. This was not a problem at the time and we used the other elevator. However now over a month later I’m hearing that the elevator is still not working!
On the morning of Sunday, October 12th, around 7:30am, we discovered a note on all elevators stating that due to a small earthquake, the elevators were not working and to please use the stairs. Note that the MyShake app did not show an earthquake in the area. Our hearing accessibility room was on the 4th floor which is the top floor of this property. This caused us concern as our mother is disabled and does not walk up or down stairs unless there is a true emergency or life-threatening situation. A walk down 3 flights of stairs would leave her essentially unable to walk for a week or more and would be extremely painful and debilitating.
We spoke to the front desk immediately and were told that there would be a technician arriving from Modesto, CA around 9am and we would be called when the elevator was reset. Modesto is nowhere close to Monterey. Shortly after 10am we called the front desk as we had not heard anything and were now told that there was no ETA for the elevator technician to arrive and they had no other information. My sister then went downstairs to speak with the front desk staff who then called the manager. The manager explained he was also going to call the Fire Department as he believed they would have a key to reset the elevator. Sometime after 12pm the Fire Department arrived at our room. They did not have a key or mechanism to reset the elevator. When we asked if the elevator tech was going to arrive soon they stated that we didn’t even want to know the answer to that question which leads me to believe that they were not coming. The only option was for the Fire Department to evacuate my mother down the stairs manually in a special chair they operated.
Not only was this situation embarrassing to my mother, a waste of Fire Department and EMT time, a waste of our vacation day in Monterey, but it is also a huge ADA and safety issue. This hotel is a newer Hilton property. The plan for the elevators breaking down on a Sunday cannot possibly be for the Fire Department to come out. The plan cannot possibly be to ask an elevator tech from Modesto, CA to come out. I am positive there are other elevator technicians closer to Monterey. There has to be a better plan in place to restore service to the elevators and to get disabled guests down to the first floor.
I have strong concerns about the lack of plan in place to fix the elevator and to assist disabled customers at this location. Especially as the one elevator still hasn’t been fixed over a month later!
The reason I gave 2 stars instead of one is because staff were all wonderful from checkin through our late departure. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I would love to stay again but do not feel safe doing so. I will book the Marriott property in the same parking lot next time.
