Monique at front desk deserves 5 stars for going above and beyond to help me with a particular request. Thanks Monique!
One star for service at Torreyana grill. Strangely, servers seemed uninterested in seating waiting customers and manager was unreachable.

Full disclosure, I stayed here for a work trip and didn’t have any choice over where I stayed. After the bad experience I had, there also wasn’t any way for the hotel to “make it right” because my company had paid for the room. So outside of us pursuing a lawsuit (which we don’t plan to do) there really isn’t anything for the hotel to do for us personally.
Like I said I was there for a work event, but if you have a choice in the matter, you should absolutely book ANY other option.
The staff was generally helpful, but sometimes were a little overbearing, saying “hi” or “good morning” literally every time I walked past the front desk.
But the room was really quite bad. We didn’t have a view, and were put in an ADA room for some reason even though we didn’t need one. The a/c didn’t work and we were really warm at night which led to poor sleep. The sink drain wasn’t working and would back up every time we brushed our teeth. No matter how we adjusted the shower knob, the water temp oscillated between too cold and too hot, often getting stuck on too hot and we’d have to wait to rinse so we didn’t get scalded. My husband came with me, and he went into the hot tub one morning and got chemical burns on his whole body. His body hair is singed and bleached and his skin has been raw and itchy and peeling for over a week now.
On top of all the structural problems (they really need new plumbing and a/c) it’s also completely isolated from the community. So unless you plan to only go to the golf course and the restaurant at the lodge, you will be trapped in this one area unless you also rented a car. They have bikes you can borrow, but anywhere you’d want to go is still very far and the hotel is on a super busy road so it’s not easy to bike places.
Quite honestly, if I had any choice in the matter I would have chosen somewhere else, and if you are able to make a different choice, I implore you to do so. We had a miserable stay.

We stayed here for one night and were not satisfied with our experience. Upon entering the room, there was a stale, unpleasant odor. When we checked the shower, we found gnats on the sides and floor, which was disappointing. One of the bedside lamps also didn’t work.
Additionally, the balcony only had a glass door with no screen, which made it less comfortable to use.
Lastly, around 10am this morning there was an excessive amount of drilling and we must of been right next to it or below it. It went on for over 30 minutes and was so loud we couldn’t talk without having to raise our voice.
For the price we paid — the stay did not feel worth it. The hotel looks much nicer on the website than it did in person. If we had been staying longer, we definitely would have switched to another hotel.

The view of the golf course and ocean in the distance is nice. Its a shame they have let this property get so run down, inside and the grounds. The beds are not comfortable and the rooms really need new clean carpet and furniture. Service staff is nice and friendly.

Warning for internationals: SAFETY PUT AT RISK POST AN EARLIER DISPUTE BY THIS HOTEL: The front desk person Mr. Thomas was anxious clearly for he was unclear about the process of booking and pricing. He then told me to check next morning with manager Cat Head for extended stay. I diligently checked but she failed to reserve me for the next few nights against what was promised despite fulfilling their passport request by me to my best also. Their inability to act is their inability. I clearly requested 5 nights if not a whole month of 30 nights stay for temporarily staying near my workplace UCSD for some important deliverables. However, given their fluctuating math & prices with filthy moods & standards of their own that too amidst their own technical system challenges, at the middle of the night ~1AM they shamelessly kicked out a diligently hard working academician like me just to prove their point that they can be a fancy nice unaffordable prestigious hotel - thankfully as a continued local UCSD researcher I managed and this is not the only place but please help me understand your actions if you can do this to a girl at that hour of the dark hours then how is this safe exactly? To make matters worse, the security guard Ken, agent Norman and manager Monique dismissed how another misbehaving guest was waving chicken nuggets at me the previous night. They brushed off responsibility and are shameless in their behavior. POSITIVES: The valet parking person Jack and Ryan baggage person seemed good professional gentlemen though - that's appreciated. However, at night, Monic clearly allowed wrong actions by teaming up falsely with the cleaning lady and Norman. I was too sleepy to react to that but thank God I don't have to stay here if such is their intent. SHAMELESS ACT OF MISMANAGEMENT CLEARLY - DEFINITELY REPORTED FOR I AM ENGROSSED AT WORK HEAVILY RIGHT NOW.
