A very good experience overall. A couple of issues had to be worked out, in which case every staff member we communicated with was polite and quick to respond.
The manager, Kevin, went above our expectations to remedy the situation.
The hotel has a very nice lobby, a pool, the rooms are large, clean, and offer a decent size fridge, a microwave, coffee machine, some dishes and utensils, ours had a dishwasher too.

We stopped here while passing through and booked this Home2 Suites based on the good reviews. It exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast was well stocked and replenished quickly, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. After a bad night at a Marriott property previously, my back felt much better after just one night here. If we pass through Atascadero again, we would definitely stay here.

Large, clean room with decent amenities and reasonably good beds (though not the best pillows—one large and two small pillows per main bed, and the smaller pillows are the foam-chunk-filled kind, which are okay at best when new, and these are not new). No bathtub, as is common in hotels these days; shower water pressure is not great, but serviceable. Noise from adjacent rooms, particularly overhead, is noticeable. If you are very sensitive to noise, this may not be the hotel for you. Not a deal-breaker for us, but I'm not sure we'll be in a hurry to return.
Breakfast options were decent, but breakfast staffing and supply didn't keep up with the demand. While overall there was probably enough food, high-demand items (croissants, sausage patties) ran out by about 8:30 both mornings. This is a failure of planning and it's really not impressive. Staff were visibly stressed out by this. That's not on them. That's on management. This is Thanksgiving weekend. Buy extra, pay and train staff to do just-in-time stocking smoothly, and plan to have some leftovers. Give those to the local food pantry.
Staff who work on Thanksgivings or other major holidays deserve all blessings and praise. And money. Don't forget the money.
