    I travel about 50x a year for work and stay at various hotels. I typically enjoy Hampton Inn & Suite hotels and I don't enjoy writing bad reviews, but I just had a very poor experience with the fitness facility here. The fitness center is a a bit sub par for most Hilton properties, Hampton inn and suites included. I don't necessarily mind old equipment, but old and poorly maintained or not maintained at all? There's absolutely no excuse for a business. It's a liability waiting to happen. The first treadmill I attempted to run on, the button to increase speed didn't work, so I just thought I'd jump on the 2nd treadmill they have. Also an older model treadmill for this type of facility. The 2nd treadmill, furthest from the entrance, allowed me to get my warm up, but the moment I started my speed work, the treadmill quickly powered off and made me lose a bit of control of my run as I went from a high speed run, to all of a sudden the treadmill belt stopping on what seemed like a dime! This is unacceptable and a HUGE LIABILITY. I even noticed afterwards that the treadmill belt wasn't even aligned properly which is simple basic treadmill maintenance. So, 1 star for having treadmills I wanted to use but couldn't, and I would've given 0 stars for the treadmill that cut off completely just as I broke into a full stride! I already let the front desk know.

    In regard to airport hotels this was not bad. Everyone said Oakland was dangerous and be careful. This place is tucked back in a corner and was fine. 7 minutes to return rental car, 10 minutes to terminal. The rooms were quiet, they were clean, and service was quick.

    Staff were kind, but unable to stop the more than four hours of stressful, disturbing, loud drilling noise in the corridor outside my second floor room. I contacted the front desk twice, was offered “points” which I declined, because I wanted and expected a quiet hotel experience. Excessive, jarring noise to hotel guests definitely does not create a “make you happy” experience. I asked for a survey and was told one would be mailed out. I have not received it. I left a voice mail for the general manager, requesting a call back. Perhaps I’ll receive one.

    Got to the hotel after a long flight on 9/17 only to find that my room reeked of marijuana. Walked down to the desk to switch rooms and was told that they had to check and see which rooms were clean. This was at 7 o’clock at night. Sat in the lobby for 20 min waiting and finally he tells me he has a room for me. I walk up to my room and the physical key and digital key doesn’t work. So I walk back down and tell him and he says he fixed them. Walk back up and once again my key doesn’t work. So now I’m walking back to the desk for a 3rd time. And turns out the lock doesn’t work on my door so had to wait for someone from maintenance to let me in. So any time I left my room I had to leave my door cracked because I couldn’t get in. Finally got in a nice humid double bed room after 30 min or so of doing laps back and forth with the desk. The best part is my coworker checks in about 30 min later and gets a beautiful king room. When apparently there was nothing available. Hilton customer service is the worst and being a Diamond member means absolutely nothing.
