We were in town for a stay-to-play youth sporting event and, as loyal Hilton Honors Diamond guests, we always choose Hilton properties when given the option. This time our team was assigned a Marriott or this Hilton DoubleTree, and unfortunately, the Marriott proved to be the better choice. The common areas of the property were charming, and the lobby smelled wonderful. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating. However, the guest rooms fell well below our expectations. Our room felt dark, dated, and worn. The A/C unit was obnoxiously loud, the furniture was noticeably beat up, the towel hooks were damaged, and the room had caked on dust and cobwebs. My daughter even ripped a pair of socks on a damaged floor transition/tack strip. Overall, while the team members were lovely, the rooms are in need of significant updates. At this time, we would not recommend staying here.

Comparing to other other doubletrees only, this is a solid location. It's in downtown Tempe, close to sports venues, and has a nice bar/restaurant.

I tried to request the shuttle, but no one picked up the phone. I sent a message in the chat with my location and phone number, and was told the driver would be coming. I waited for over an hour and reached out multiple times, but received no further instructions or updates. Extremely disappointing service — poor communication and no follow-through.

I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Tempe last week. The day after I checked out, I realized I had left behind a white linen dress. Since I was still in Phoenix for a conference, I went back to the hotel to ask about my lost item. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff did not greet me or show any willingness to help. The woman simply said, “You can’t get it today,” without any explanation or suggestion. She opened a file but never told me to wait or explained the process. So I headed to the lobby to have a seat. When I went back to ask again, the manager spoke to me in a dismissive tone, saying that the front desk was “helping me” and that I had walked away — which was not true. As an international guest whose first language is not English, I still expect basic courtesy and clear communication, especially in a hotel that claims to represent Hilton’s standards. The lack of greeting, empathy, and clear instructions made me feel disrespected and unwelcome. America is a diverse country, and hotels should know how to treat guests from all backgrounds equally. I’ve stayed in many hotels across different countries, and this is the first time I’ve experienced such unprofessional service. Some hotels even have a dedicated lost-and-found department or at least inform guests when something is left behind. When I brought this up, the manager even said, “Adults don’t need to be reminded.” I respect that point, but everyone can make mistakes or forget things sometimes. That response was both rude and unacceptable. I know it’s not fair to generalize; another staff who helped me at check-in was very kind and professional. Lastly, I cannot understand why my lost dress has not been found. It’s frustrating to receive an email saying it’s “not in the database” when I reported it after leaving.

The staff here are very friendly and funny. They are great. Where this hotel fails are the rooms and the cleanliness. The rooms just have stains. Stains on bedding, towels, and walls. The screen was busted in my room, there is hair caked on the ceiling in the bathroom in the room I was staying in and the showerhead so much hard water stains and calcium build up. The check out was bit confusing the room has noon posted on the door as check out time, the key for the room stopped working at 10:30 and then was told by the front desk checkout is at 11. I would say this is more of a motel over a hotel. Again the staff are fantastic…if you just need a place to lay your head it works.
