Dear
I am writing to formally express my significant disappointment with the service I received during my recent stay at your hotel from 9/10/25 to 9/13/25 in room numbers 402 & 406. My experience was well below the standard I expected from a hotel of your reputation, and I wish to bring several issues to your attention.
I selected your hotel because of the Marriott brand. This trip was important to me and my family as we were in Montgomery to attend my son's graduation for Air Force Officer Training School.
The day we arrived, and when we went to our room and as soon as we opened the door, the smell of chlorine/bleach was overpowering. My wife's eyes started to water immediately as it was very strong. Both rooms had the overpowering smell.
We made a comment to the front desk which was dismissed. We turned on the vents and left the property for a couple hours to attend family event at Maxwell AFB.
When we returned, we noticed construction workers openly drinking alcohol in the parking lot. We went upstairs to the room and the smell had not gone away.
These are the conditions we found in the room:
1. The bathroom was not fully clean.
2. The toilet was rocking back and forth when you sat on it.
3. Mold and mildew in the shower corners.
4. Wall tiles missing by the shower.
5. Wallpaper pealing off walls.
6. The shower pan had hallow spots underneath and when I walked on it, it felt like you tilted to one side almost losing your balance.
7. Chemical bottles with no labels in housekeeping carts. This is an OSHA violation.
8. Staff without uniforms or name tags.
The outside of the property was dirty, fences had green mold and there was lint from the dryer vent all over the side walk where we parked.
We left a message with the front staff for the General Manager to call us but didn't get a response. We contacted Marriott Bonvoy and expressed our disappointment and they stated that I needed to go through Expedia. I contacted Expedia on 9/11/25 and explained our disappointment of the property and that we wanted to checkout on Friday, 9/12 and if possible to get a refund for the day. Either way we did not want to stay at the hotel anymore. Expedia contacted the hotel and they denied the refund and threatened that if we were to leave early that we would be charged an early departure fee for the amount well over $300 for both rooms.
To our disappointment, we had to stay the extra night. That night, around 1:00 AM, we were awoken by loud music coming from the hotel parking lot. We called the front desk several times and no one answered. I had to get dressed and go to the front desk myself. I spoke with the staff member on duty and I asked him if he heard the loud music. His response was that there was nothing he could do because it was outside. I asked him if he could call the police and let them know of the disturbance of the peace. He picked up the phone and made a call. At 3 AM, the music was still playing. At that point, my wife, my son who had just graduated from AF OTS and I had no choice but to leave as we were not able to sleep. When I checked out, I told the staff member the reason we were leaving because we couldn't sleep due to the loud music. He replied that other guests had come down to also complain about the music. I made him write on our checkout record the reason we were leaving and he only wrote "noise" but it was more than noise. I asked him to correct it and he did not not. As we were putting our luggage in the car, the music finally stopped close to 4 AM. I assume the police finally got there. But they never called the Police , I reach out to the Montgomery police Department and they did not receive a call from the Hotel staff
I hope that you take this complaint seriously. I will let the Maxwell AFB community k experience as I don't want this to happen to another military family.
I sent this complaint to there Corporate Had quarters and Marriot Bonvoy and did not receive a response from either
Regards
