This is the worst hotel/motel I’ve ever stayed in. They say it’s under renovation which I can appreciate and which it severely needs, but it was just beyond gross. We arrive to our room and the deadbolt was thrown and the door was open, weird but ok, whatever. I told my son to go get in the shower quickly as we were in town for a ball that evening and quickly needed to start getting ready. We noticed a light was out in bathroom. I told him we would get his dad to tell the front desk, and we’d get them to fix it right after we all got our showers. While he was in the shower, I took stock of the room, lowered the air because we were going to be taking three showers in a room and needed to make sure it stayed cool and didn’t steam up. That was when I noticed a huge mildew spot or possibly big black mold spot right in the middle of the ceiling over the bed. Then, my son got of the shower and quickly exclaimed that the shower and bathroom was infested with ladybugs…I peeked in and yep, all over the ceiling and light fixtures there were ladybugs. I told him to quickly throw on some clothes, and that I was going to make them change our room as soon as my husband got back from getting gas. I met my husband downstairs all the the while noticing that the hallway to and from the elevators downstairs made a squishing sound because they were wet with no telling what. Tracked my way to the front desk, told the lady at the desk what was going on in our room, she called maintenance, searched her computer, printed us a new key, asked maintenance to meet us at a new room to “see” if that room was up to our standards before coding any other keys. I was hoping that she would be putting us on a floor that had maybe been fully renovated (although, I have no idea if any of those exist in this hotel), but, nope, she moved to a room directly across the hall from our current room. Convenient for moving luggage but still a gross floor. We went back up to our floor, that room was also wide open with the deadbolt thrown so you could just walk right on in without a key. Thankfully, no mildew/mold on the ceiling and no ladybugs, but two lights were out. The maintenance guy quickly changed those. At that point, we just needed to get ready to go to the ball. We told them it was fine. We got ready. Attended the ball returned at around 12:30 am and attempted to shower but could not get the water warmer than lukewarm…it’s roughly 32 degrees outside, I was freezing. It was the middle of the night and could not get any hot water in the shower at all. No matter how you moved the shower handle. The floor of the shower was black…I don’t know the last time it saw bleach. We didn’t even bother to attempt to eat breakfast the next morning. The carpet downstairs was still wet and sloshy and gross…no way was I gonna trust the food. This Hampton Inn is poorly managed, poorly maintained, poorly cleaned, etc…I could go on. It’s beyond pitiful, especially being so close to such an exquisite neighborhood in Birmingham. If we had to stay more than one evening in Birmingham, we would have moved to another hotel. Hilton should dump it. It may need to be cleaned and cleared to it studs to get it back to Hampton and Hilton standards. So very disappointed. We will never stay there again, and second guess staying Hamptons in general ever again.

BEDBUGS! The location was great, but the rooms and hotel needs attention. We found bedbugs crawling in our bed. Went to report it and the lady at the front desk asked “what was she supposed to do about it?” It was very late so we said another room would be nice. Before we even set our things down we checked the beds in the new room. Bedbugs there too, and the mattress under the mattress cover was disgusting. We left and drove home all night. I would leave no stars if that was possible.

Giving this hotel a horrible review. Employees we great but the place is so run down. They apparently are remodeling, but the noise is too much.

DO NOT STAY HERE! The place smells and it's rundown. The place is DIRTY. The 1st floor doors leading outside DO NOT LOCK. Anyone can access the hotel without a key card. I told the staff at the front desk who said it does lock and if not they would call maintenance. But heard them laugh and joke about it as I walked away. THE WATER WAS OFF without explanation, warning or an apology. I could go on and on. It says it's under renovation, but it needs to be torn down and rebuilt.
