"I have to bump your plan up a tier," for some reason when getting a new phone replacement on an existing line. This was not true and was only required for a promotion, which itself was no great incentive compared to the increased tier of phone plan. We decided to just buy the phone outright. Modern phones don't come with chargers, the design of which had changed since our last purchase. Apple brand out of stock? Try to upsell a Google brand for $10 more? No thanks. Want Verizon to transfer your stuff to the new phone? That will be $40. Seriously? I realize these companies make bank on new lines, but the over the top extraction of money at every turn is absurd. The best play is to switch carriers every couple of years and treat the companies the same way they treat us.
