    Strangest Customer Service Experience Before you read this experience, please note I am a Verizon Customer who is using 4 of their products for last 3 years. They can see all my information with my phone number, they can validate me by asking questions or by sending text verification (which they ultimately did after wasting 1.5 hours) I walked into the store, and the first representative took my phone number, asking me to return in 30 minutes. When I came back, he suddenly told me he couldn’t accept ID from my phone. I asked how their customer service authenticates identity over the phone, and he simply said he doesn’t handle online services and needs to see a physical ID. I went back to my car, retrieved a valid, government-issued ID with my photo and name, and presented it to him. He barely glanced at it before telling me it had to be either a California ID or a passport. Nowhere on their website was this stated. When I pointed this out, he just stood there, repeating that he couldn’t help me. At this point, the so-called manager stepped in and said she could give me a number to call since she needed to see ID. I showed her my ID again and asked her to show me their policy stating it wasn’t acceptable. After saying no at least ten times, she finally asked what kind of ID it was. When I told her it was a valid Canadian health card, she immediately dismissed it, saying they only accept Canadian driver’s licenses. This was now 45 minutes after I first walked into the store. Then, a third employee joined the conversation, telling me to “stop picking fights.” While he was calmer, he refused to actually listen and seemed more focused on backing up his coworkers than helping me. I repeatedly asked where on Verizon’s website it stated my ID was unacceptable. He then showed me on website that they can accept my Canadian driver’s license, but no-one answered my question- where does it say that Valid Canadian Health Card with Photo, Name and DOB is unacceptable. So they were basically making their own rules while the company Verizon has its own rules. Then, instead of assisting me, they put me back in the queue, stood around doing nothing, and made me wait another 15 minutes. Finally, after over an hour of wasted time, the third guy returned, took my phone number, and said he’d send me a message for authentication on my phone 😵‍💫😵‍💫. Strange, isn’t it? Verizon Store:: - Read and educate yourself about your policies and don’t make up random policies on spot just to prove yourself right. •You could have authenticated my identity through my phone 45 minutes ago instead of making up random rules. I wasted 1 hour 15 minutes to get answers to my questions, it could have been done in 5 minutes or less. •Stop looking for excuses not to help customers—especially when you’re being paid to assist in person. •Darren, thanks for finally answering my questions, but instead of shielding your coworkers’ laziness and dishonesty, maybe focus on training them better.

    It was time to upgrade my phone with the insurance I purchased, and the customer service was great. Everything was done quickly, and the new phone was received without any issues. I'm very happy. Also, for the past several years with my mobile insurance, I was able to drop in for replacement screen protectors and was greeted with familiar faces; all was done within minutes.
