Saved my hide numerous times!! My daughter needed a wetsuit the night before we left the country and they stayed open for us. Another time I needed a Shearwater computer and was coming back from out of town and the owner met me at 11:00 pm since I had to be at the airport at 4:30 am.
Thank you for all your time and support.

100% recommend. I'm so happy I went there. I have vision issues, and I was looking for a dive mask. I had done research online and thought I knew what I needed, but I also wasn't sure about buying a mask online without trying it on to test the seal. Glad I did! Turns out I would have bought the wrong size. In addition, I didn't need the corrective lenses as I thought. I only need stick-on bifocals (but I would have bought the wrong strength online, too). Christina was so helpful, as was the other staff who spent over an hour with me changing out lenses, talking about bifocal and trifocal options, and inserting test bifocals. I ended up buying a mask and snorkel because they were unable to order the bifocals in the actual strength I need. But after all the time they spent with me, I know I can order the bifocals online and insert them correctly. Great customer service, and I will be coming back with a friend. Thank you!!!

Aquatic Adventures is my go to dive shop. I love having female staff help me find the best fit for my wet suites as well as my other gear. I’ve never felt pressured to buy the most expensive version of anything. They’re knowledgeable and explain the pros and cons of the different equipment so I can make my own educated decision with their help. The male staff is also wonderful :)
Frequently Asked Questions About Aquatic Adventures, Inc.
What does "Certification" mean?
If you have ever talked to a diver, you have heard the word "certification" come up. Or you've asked about going out on a dive at a resort or dive center but were told you needed to be "certified" before you could go. Certification simply means that you have been professionally trained in the use of scuba equipment and the techniques of safe scuba diving. There are many different kinds of scuba certifications, but the certification most divers start with is the PADI Open Water Diver rating. This rating allows you to rent and buy scuba equipment, get air fills from dive centers, participate in professionally led dives, and dive in conditions that are like or better than the conditions you are trained in. For current pricing, see Aquatic Adventures Online.
How long does it take to get certified?
In order to complete your PADI Open Water Diver certification, you must complete academic training (Aquatic Adventures uses the PADI online Touch program), 5 confined water dives, and 4 open water dives. The confined water dives are generally done in a swimming pool or a lake or ocean area that is similar to a swimming pool in terms of water clarity and access to shallow water. These dives can be completed in anywhere from one day to five days depending on how the dive center runs your training. During these sessions you will learn how to do basic diving skills such as mask clearing, regulator clearing, buoyancy control and air management. Weekend students at Aquatic Adventures generally finish their pool training on a Saturday and Sunday. Weekday students usually complete their training in 2 or 3 evening sessions.
Academic training can take several different forms. Sessions involve viewing videos, reading a manual or online program, answering a series of questions based on the videos and readings, and successfully passing quizzes and an exam that verify your understanding of the material. Diving safely requires you to have a basic understanding of dive physics and physiology. You will be asked to apply that knowledge in the pool and in open water, so it's important to learn academic material.
Fortunately, most of this work can be done independently in the comfort of your home. At Aquatic Adventures, classroom training starts with students completing the PADI Touch program. This system contains all the videos and readings that you need to complete the course. You can do the work by installing an app on your iOS or Android device or working from your home computer. Prior to going to the pool, we will give you a quick quiz to verify your online learning, issue equipment you will need for pool training and show you how to assemble the scuba kit. Then it's off to the pool for your first dive!
The four open water dives are done in a lake or ocean where you demonstrate the skills you've learned for your instructor under the kinds of conditions you will be diving in. Because divers in training can only do three dives in a day, you will need at least two days to complete your open water dives. When you're done, you will be issued a certification card with your picture on it, proving that you are a certified diver!
All together, your certification training will take about 35 hours of your time. If you are going on vacation and want to learn to dive before you go, start your training early. You will be less rushed and will enjoy your training much more.
What is a referral?
While the PADI Scuba Diver course is a way to avoid doing any training on your trip, you may want to consider a referral course if you live in a cold climate and can't do the open water dives during the winter. Aquatic Adventures provides a program where you can complete the classroom and pool portions of your certification course in Wisconsin and then complete the 4 open water dives with another PADI Dive Center during your vacation. Our regular referral program begins in November and runs through April, but you can arrange for a referral at any time during the year.
To learn more about the Aquatic Adventures referral program, see our PADI Referral Program webpage. For current pricing see Aquatic Adventures Online. By deselecting the Certification Dives option, the course fee will be reduced to cover just the classroom and pool portions of the course. You can complete this work in one weekend.
How old must I be to get certified?
Divers must be at least 10 years of age to participate in the PADI Open Water Diver course. However, children between the ages of 10 and 12 must attend the course with a parent and are required to always dive with a parent or PADI professional. In addition, they are limited to a depth of 40 feet. Children between the ages of 12 and 15 can dive with any certified adult but are limited to depths above 70 feet. Because of these restrictions, children are issued a Jr. Open Water Diver certification when they complete the course. When they turn 15, children can apply for the full Open Water Diver certification.
Will my certification expire?
No, your certification will not expire. As a PADI Open Water Diver, your certification is good for life. If you do not actively participate in scuba diving for an extended period, however, it's a good idea to refresh your skills through the PADI ReActivate class. For current pricing or to sign up for a ReActivate or Scuba Review class, see our ReActivate course page.
Are there any health conditions that might prevent me from diving?
Almost anyone who is in good health and reasonably fit can participate in scuba diving. However, there are some conditions that may prevent you from diving. These conditions are listed on the RSTC Medical Statement. Review this form prior to registering for class.
Should you need to answer Yes to any condition on the form, you will be asked to have a physician certify you fit for scuba before you will be allowed to participate in training. The RSTC Medical Statement your physician needs to sign is located HERE. Download the form so your physician can determine whether diving is safe for you. If your physician finds no reason why you cannot participate in scuba, have the form signed and bring it with you when registering for class.
Do I need to be a good swimmer to become a scuba diver?
Being a good swimmer will make you more comfortable in the water, but the swimming requirements for the PADI Open Water Diver course are modest. You will be asked to swim 200 yards without stopping, but you can do any stroke you like and can take as long as you like to complete the distance. You will also be asked to tread water for 10 minutes in water too deep to stand.
Do I need to buy all of my equipment right away? I hear it's expensive.
Equipment is an important part of scuba. High quality properly maintained equipment not only provides us with the ability to visit the underwater world, but it also gives us greater safety while doing it.
You won't be much of a diver if you do not buy scuba equipment, just as you wouldn't be much of a skier if you never bought skis. However, scuba equipment is an investment. After all, it's life support equipment! So, most dive centers offer equipment rental to allow their students to purchase equipment over time.
If you can afford to purchase some of your equipment during your training, your PADI instructor can assist you in mastering how to effectively use it. Having your own equipment increases your safety as you will be familiar with how it works and can control who services it and when.
If you can't afford equipment now, ask your instructor for advice on how to make a wise decision when you do decide to purchase. Then visit Aquatic Adventures Online, call us at (262) 938-6827 or stop in our store in Brookfield to talk to our sales staff. As experienced divers who use the equipment we sell, they can help you make the right purchasing decisions.
Divers need buddies, right? So, do I need to bring someone with me to class?
Yes, divers need buddies. For safety reasons, you should never dive alone no matter how many scuba classes you've taken or how many dives you've done. But you won't have to supply a buddy for your certification class.
Although it is nice to have a friend or family member join you in your training, it is certainly not necessary. Your scuba training will provide you with an opportunity to meet other people who are interested in diving. Many of those new divers will be looking for buddies as well. So, if you have a friend who's interested in learning to dive, bring your friend along. If not, you're sure to meet someone in class.
What is scuba diving certification and why is it important?
Certification means you have been professionally trained in scuba equipment use and safe diving techniques, allowing you to rent equipment and participate in guided dives.
How long does it usually take to get PADI Open Water Diver certified at Aquatic Adventures?
Certification typically takes about 35 hours, including online academic training, 5 confined water dives, and 4 open water dives completed over a few days.
Can I complete part of my scuba certification locally and finish it while on vacation?
Yes, Aquatic Adventures offers a referral program allowing you to complete classroom and pool training locally, then finish open water dives elsewhere during vacation.
What are the age requirements to become a certified diver at Aquatic Adventures?
Divers must be at least 10 years old. Those between 10-12 must dive with a parent or professional and have depth limits; those 12-15 have less restrictive limits.
Does a scuba diving certification from Aquatic Adventures expire?
No, the PADI Open Water Diver certification is valid for life. Divers are encouraged to refresh skills if inactive for a period.
