Went for pickleball today. Great staff. But indoor pickleball faculty is not yet ready for the public. I will change this to five star when it’s finalized.

Sportime Randall’s Island is an outstanding facility. It’s well maintained and efficiently run, with a professional and friendly team across management, front desk, maintenance, and tennis staff. I always have pleasant, attentive experiences during my visits. The on-site café offers excellent coffee and tasty selections. The tennis program is top-notch, and the coaches are fantastic. If you’re looking for a great tennis experience, SPORTIME Randall’s Island is a must-visit.

3-Star Review I’m giving this place three stars because of a few issues I experienced during my visit. I started playing tennis when I was 8 years old, and one of the first things I learned was how important silence is for the game. This was my first time at this facility, and when I walked onto the courts there was a group of kids taking lessons, with loud music playing. The sound was really disturbing for any player, because you need to listen and stay focused throughout the whole match. The kids were on the first court, but even on mine the music was so loud that I couldn’t even talk to my opponent. Another issue was the clay courts. They were extremely wet, probably because the courts are indoors and the heat was on, which caused condensation. The surface was much wetter than it should be. Overall, I did like the place—it’s well organized and very clean. But because of the loud music and the condition of the clay courts, I can only give it three stars.

A facility with excellent tennis courts that are always well maintained, clean locker rooms and bathrooms. Pros are numerous and generally helpful and good at what they do. Food service good and nice to have available. A large, excellent facility and there are many good players (some quite young) hitting there with various pros that gives the place an intense tennis-centric atmosphere that is superior to most tennis clubs. I wish they offered more John McEnroe Tennis Academy apparel in a more complete assortment of sizes. Billing and scheduling are accurate and timely. Overall, a large, complete and excellent facility—the biggest, busiest and best in the NYC area.

I have spent so much money over the years at Sportime. Set up a $220 private lesson yesterday for a child who woke up this morning with COVID. Andrew, the manager who I spoke to on the phone, refused to credit the lesson. He could not care less about spreading COVID. Just wants to take my $ instead of issuing credit for future lesson. I guess he likes having sick kids running around the club. When pushed, he told me to get a letter from a physician and submit which I have done. I can understand charging for cancelled lessons but not making the one off exception for illness (COVID no less) is errant on their part. It's the ethos at Sportime that turns me off. It is an uncaring $ making machine that doesn't care about the people.
