By far the worst experience I have ever encountered within the last 20 years of visiting Las Vegas. The female staff member Leiloni, needs to take a course in hospitality and learn how to approach guests properly. She is extremely rude and disrespectful.

The water was either too hot or too cold and the best pool was for 21 and older

We came with our daughters for a little family vacation before summer ends for us. First day we got a daybed, weather was perfect! Pool was perfect! Our girls had so much fun. Next day they closed a pool we had reservation with a daybed but instead they graciously upgraded us to Cabana with the other pool! We were completely beside ourselves! We were completely stoked so were our girls!

Wow. Where do I even begin? I’ll start with what I THOUGHT would make this a positive experience: I booked an adult pool grand cabana months in advance, on the first possible day I could (May 11 for an Aug 11 reservation). I paid a lot of money for it. I confirmed via the automated email the day before, which said check in was at 11. I went to the reservations hut at 10:45, thinking that 15 minutes early would be sufficient. Then everything went downhill. I stood very uncomfortably in line, in the 100 degree sun, for 30 minutes, despite there only being 2 people in front of me. While waiting, I could see that many cabanas already had people in them and were set up as if they’d been there far before 11am. It was clear while watching the people in front of me that the employee checking people in was very confused and unsure of what she was doing. By the time I got to her, she took my name and then told me that despite having a reservation, my cabana had been given to someone else. I was flabbergasted. She said she could just tell those people to move, which was appreciated, but I was still in shock that my cabana had been double booked. I pointed out that I booked it as early as I could and couldn’t understand how double booking would be possible. I was visibly upset, and when the manager arrived to help her, he told me “the usual lady called out sick” and the woman working “was brand new and didn’t have any experience checking people in” so I should just be understanding. As someone who works in customer service myself, I am shocked by the lack of redundancy for such a critical role (especially during one of the busiest times at the Rio). Only ONE person can check people in? Really? After all that, the person who walked us to our cabana didn’t even explain the situation to the other customers or ask them to leave. WE had to do that. Talk about awkward. I was so furious by then that I had to walk away to calm down and couldn’t even enjoy the first hour of my time there. When I returned, my party informed me that still water after the first bucket would be an extra charge. The website said, and still says TODAY, “Complimentary still waters & assorted Liquid Death Sparkling Waters.” We didn’t even get Liquid Death sparkling waters, though I guess Perrier is a fine replacement. The server gave us one more bucket of water after that, but still said it would be $10 a bottle after that. I have to give some points for good food and a kind server, but the drinks were weak despite the price. We’ve had a lot of terrible experiences at the Rio over the years (including my husband cutting his foot on a broken metal handle in the pool), but this was the most disappointing one to date. Even with the recent “upgrades,” we will no longer be staying at the Rio. The increasing cost would be worth the convenience during STLV if it wasn’t for so many frustrations and poor experiences.
