REI Columbia is a top-notch outdoor store serving the Howard County area and beyond. The store is spacious, well-organized, and thoughtfully laid out, making it easy to browse gear for hiking, camping, climbing, cycling, paddling, and winter sports. Products are clearly labeled and well-stocked, allowing customers to compare items and make informed purchasing decisions.

The store itself is great, but they really push you to sign up for the REI membership. When I declined it, the salesperson was quite rude to me, saying “Well, do you know anyone who has a membership so you don’t miss out on rewards?” When I said no, she curtly said “Okay, then…”. I am going on one big trip and I do not shop at REI often otherwise. When I finished checking out, I asked for a bag, not knowing that REI’s bagless policy. She paused, raised her eyebrow at me, and said “We are bagless”.
I worked retail for a long time, so I understand how salespeople are required to push memberships. However the whole interaction felt condescending, and while I like REI’s clothing and items, I likely will not return to this store.

Its not the store it used to be. Stock reductions and online ordering you can't get the instant gratification of buying stuff off the shelf
