  The claim of hassle-free returns here are misleading, even for brand new items. I recently experienced two frustrating issues with returning items here. About a month ago, I returned two identical camping pots I had purchased online, both brand new and unused. The cashier processed a refund for only one of them, which I only noticed weeks later. After a call to customer service, the manager had to verify with the security cameras that I had returned both items. I got a refund the following day. More recently, I delt with unnecessary obstacles while trying to return three ungifted Christimas gifts that were still in their original packaging. I hadn't even opened the box they came in and opened it in front of the cashier, Vincent. Vincent took an excessive amount of time to process my refund and left without explanation. He returned along with an unintroduced woman who appeared to be a manager. After standing there without clarity for several minutes, I had to question them before they finally explained that they needed to confirm the items hadn’t been returned already. They were rude and unhelpful. It's ridiculous that they insisted on verifying that these items hadn't already been refunded, despite the fact that I had them with me, and they weren't marked as returned in my order history. Honestly, why would I walk into the store with items that had already been returned? For context, I had previously ordered several items online that were lost, for which I did receive a refund. The items I was returning were the few that actually arrived at my home. Ultimately, they did complete the return, but the process was not smooth.

  I was looking for rock climbing equipment, and was directed to speak with associate Vincent. Vincent was fantastic in explaining all of the ins and outs, and pros and cons of a harness. I wish all associates were this patient and knowledgeable.

  I had a fantastic experience at this REI location thanks to one of the staff members upstairs. He was a more senior gentleman who was incredibly helpful and patient. He helped me find the exact Patagonia jacket I was looking for in the right size and color, and made the exchange process from my previous jacket super smooth. I really appreciated his kindness and expertise, and just wanted to give a shout-out to REI for having such helpful staff. Thanks again!

  Even on a super busy sale weekend, they have plenty of staff around to help customers. I had a very thorough ski boot fitting with Danny. She was sooooo knowledgeable, kind, and patient. Even answered others’ questions as they walked by. Lines moved quickly and the store was in great shape!!

  Fantastic staff if you can find one on the floor. Shockingly large candy selection at checkout line; beware and keep your children far away.
