We walked in, were greeted and then as we kept walking I heard an employee say to another employee on their walkie “I got my eyes on them”. Just for context, we were the only ones in the front of the store. We are three african american young adults and this interaction didn’t surprise me but what surprised me was that we literally just walked in, we weren’t loud or chaotic because we know how to carry ourselves like normal people would. I personally shop at Academy very frequently and this was honestly disappointing and dare I say careless and disrespectful if that comment was directed towards us. All three of us shop there all the time and it was disheartening to be treated like that. I personally work in retail so I understand the holiday season and being on high alert about Loss prevention, etc. but this interaction was surprising. You all have great deals and items and i appreciate the convenience of being able to find what we need I just don’t appreciate that if again, that comment was directed toward us.

Becky helped us with everything we needed and was quick and efficient and always had a smile on. Thank you academy for all your help !

Some may like that, some may not, I prefer staff that let's me wander and are available if I need anything over staff that are constantly coming up and asking. But just my preference and for that, I enjoyed it. Prices looked good was just going for hear protection at work and couldn't find what I was looking for and walked to the staff, they offered one more spot to check and said if I order from the site it can be picked up here otherwise. Ended up that I looked at the wrong stores inventory so I left, but at a quick glance around since I was there, the prices were actually really good or at the least comparable. Good selection of a good many more things than I'd expected but would definitely say anything outdoors they have, or can get! Would go again when I have some .ore time and just wander to see what all they have sometime for sure.
