My family member went to exchange a bike at this location, that was purchased less than 30 days ago as a Christmas gift from another location, because it was too big. When they got there they were greeted with hostility by the manager and her employees saying they wouldn’t accept the e-receipt that was shown in the app. The bike was $100 and they were trying to give them store credit of $40. I called 2 other locations and spoke with managers asking them if they’re able to exchange the bike with the e-receipt and was told that they were able to. A call to corporate office was definitely made. If they tell you they can’t do a return or exchange with an e-receipt they’re wrong. It can be done.

I purchased a bike from Academy in Pearland because I was in the area at the time. After Christmas we realized the bike was too large and heavy for my son. I wanted to exchange the bike at the Academy near my home, Missouri City (Sienna). When I called to verify what was needed to preform an exchange they made me aware that an ID was needed, if a receipt was not provided. However when my husband and son arrived they were told they needed the receipt. If a receipt was not provided we would only be give half the amount paid for the bike. I was able to find the receipt from the website (recent purchase history) and sent it to them only to be told that we needed to “press return in the in store purchase history to provide a barcode” for Academy to scan. This is ridiculous especially when there was no return link on the purchase receipt. Once I read the reviews and noticed their patterns of how they treat customers I knew the 5 stars they currently have where either from employees or others that are associated with the working staff. I will be calling their corporate office as well.

Very disappointed with the customer service at Academy. We were given incorrect information about exchanges, and when we came back to ask about it, the staff was rude and dismissive instead of helpful. Rather than trying to clarify or fix the situation, they acted like we were the problem.
Being lied to and then treated poorly when asking a simple question about an exchange is unacceptable. Customer service should be honest and respectful, especially for a large company like this. I will think twice before shopping here again.

Ordered a Stanley Cup online and had it delivered. My wife didn’t like the color so we went to the store to exchange it. Long story short the employees at this store are very unfriendly and were looking at my family as if we stole the cups. The lady who actually did the exchange was the rudest of all of them, she must’ve rolled her eyes at me 3 times bc she’s a middle aged lady working at Academy and probably hates her life. Do better Academy, very disappointed!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Customer Service – Missouri City Academy
I want to take a moment to recognize an amazing team at the Missouri City Academy Sports + Outdoors for providing one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had in a long time.
Adolphus, Brandon, and Jordan went above and beyond in helping me purchase a 3-in-1 pool table. They were extremely knowledgeable, patient, respectful, and genuinely cared about making sure I was happy with my purchase. They took the time to answer all my questions, explore options, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free.
I also want to give special recognition to the store manager (I regretfully did not catch her name). She was incredibly kind and professional and even offered me an additional discount for purchasing a display model, which I truly appreciated. Her leadership clearly shows through her team.
Because of this experience, I will continue to shop at Academy and confidently recommend the Missouri City location to family and friends. This team truly represents Academy at the highest level, and I hope corporate leadership recognizes them for their outstanding service.
