  If I could leave no stars I would. I have worked in customer service almost my whole life and when I ordered a pick up item from the store (a crossbow for a christmas gift) he had my sign for it and placed it into my back seat. I only had a short time for lunch so headed back and when I removed it to take it in and wrap it the box was ripped everywhere and taped… when I called to ask about exchanging it because of this I was told it could not be returned. I asked if it could simply be swapped out and was told nope you want a nice box… call the manufacture… the manager was disrespectful and she definitely needs to check her tone when speaking with customers! We not only shop here often but even have a credit card here… that will be changing….

  Don’t believe the prices you see on the shelf and don’t bother bringing up the price cause they won’t price match the items on the shelf to make sure it’s the correct price this place has gone down bad since Steve left

  I went into this store this Last Sunday (02 November 2025) to purchase a weapon. The two gentlemen with long hair that work behind the counter are the two most unprofessional employees I’ve ever encountered at an Academy store. One of them flinging his keys around and not really trying to interact with me. While filling out my background check, he told me he was going to help another gentleman and if I have any questions to ask another employee and they would help me. After filling out my background check, I seen he was busy with a customer so I asked another employee if he could help me. (Caucasian male with long brown hair). He gave me the biggest grief. I felt like I was bothering him. Then I told Reba that he must be having a really bad day. He looked like he didn’t want to help me. She proceeded to make an excuse for him, telling he received over 90 weapons that needed to be processed, so he’s very busy. As a customer, and I’m going to spend 400 dollars. I should not be treated like this or have this type of experience. I don’t care how busy you are. You are working in a field that demands customer satisfaction. If you’re unhappy of your current employer, go look for another job. So sick of this place thinking they can treat people like garbage. Now when I think of Academy in Killeen, I think of those two jokers. Thank you academy.

  Excellent experience in the gun section; a young man named Devon helped me check out a few firearms. It was refreshing to see someone polite and happy to be selling guns. He was very personable and knew quite a lot about guns. Keep up the good work, young man. The world is your oyster with that attitude.

  I understand customer service isn’t what it used to be, however I haven’t given up- We just needed to exchange a pair of pants (we bought the wrong color). Normally there is a person at the front to see that we are bringing in a bag (don’t want to have anyone we think we stole something) but there was not, so we looked over to Rhonda who is the only one at the register, she didn’t see us at first which is okay, then when some time passes she looks over and says- “you’ll have to get in the line”. My husband holds up the bag and tries to explain, she calls the next customer, then she looks over and reaches for the bag- then asked loudly is he has a receipt, he then tries to explain again and she looks away and starts with another customer. We go get the pants, she charges us for them then we have to explain that we are trying to exchange, and she then says oh I forgot….if she would have just started with a nice greeting- instead it was get in line and went down hill from there. :(
