I am a voluntary user of the interlock system. The guys at the Concord, NC. office have always been nice. Jason especially is a decent person and makes sure I am taken care of. My only negative is that, mouth pieces are not always available. I pay 2 months at a time.

There was very patient with me and helped me hum and blow. I couldn’t do it a few months ago when I went to another company. They answered all my questions and answered them several times till I understood. I was very pleased with all the info they gave me

A lot of people apparently have bad experiences with smart start but the Concord, NC office on Odell School Rd is pretty good. They are super helpful and courteous. I did have one false violation right before my last payment but I’d bet that it was smart start trying to get some extra money from me before I had it removed.
Also I had to leave out of town for work 2 days before I was scheduled to get the machine removed from my car and they let me drop it off and when I came back the machine was out and spare keys were inside like they were supposed to be which was great. If not for the employees being so helpful I would have had to make another payment and possibly been locked out of starting my car when I got back. Big thanks to Trevor and all the guys at the Concord office!

It's very annoying how they always change the rules without telling anyone the major one is that cash is no good has to be on a card that is the most stressful thing I've ever had to deal with is very hard to remember cuz I'm used to you know you can take anything Cash Card don't matter so every time I come I have cash no card has put me in very stressful situations Time After Time I do not recommend Smart Start for this reason because to me money is money you should be able to take money or card

If any other documents are required, one of our friendly Program Advisors will let you know.
How do I know if Smart Start's devices are compliant with my program?

You will then need to fill out the Device Removal Request form on our website and upload any official documentation that may be required to authorize the removal.
Do I need an Interlock Device on all of my vehicles?
Some states will require that you have an Ignition Interlock Device installed on all cars registered to you, but most states will just require that whichever vehicle you drive have an IID installed. Check with your state authority to see if you will need an IID installed on all of your cars.
Does the Interlock Device mess up or hurt my vehicle?

How do I use an Interlock Device?

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my Ignition Interlock?
Check with your state authority to see if you are allowed to unplug your Ignition Interlock before doing so.
Can someone else drive my car?
Yes, but whoever is driving the vehicle MUST take a breath test and pass before driving. Any failed test will still be your responsibility.
