I had a great experience buying a camera at national camera exchange in golden valley. The staff I had interactions with seemed very kind and helpful to customers, and each other. I walked in looking for a camera I found online, but after talking with Hussain A. for a while, he helped me make a choice that I’m very happy with! The conversations I had felt genuine, and made me feel comfortable asking questions. As someone who knows basically nothing about camera settings, I would say Hussain did a wonderful job explaining what the different functions are and how they work. I’m glad I took the trip!

I was at the Golden Valley location yesterday to ask some questions about my camera, I wanted to see if I could take some pictures of the northern lights. I don't remember the name of the first gentleman that helped me but he was helpful and friendly. Based upon the questions I was asking, he suggested I wait for Hussain A. for help. I waited while Hussain finished with another customer. When Hussain arrived I told him what my knowledge level with cameras was, slightly more than nothing, and what I was trying to accomplish. Hussain looked at my camera, lenses, etc. and immediately brought out a pencil and paper and sketched out the three things I needed to do with my camera to try and get the best results. At each step along the way we paused and he made sure that I understood the last subject before we moved on to the next. By the end it seemed like he had been helping me for half an hour or so.
I bought my camera from this location and anytime I have questions or need help, drive the 20 minutes or so to Golden Valley. I have always had outstanding service there but to be honest, Hussain was exceptional! I really do appreciate all the help and hope I see you again next time!

Some of the employees, like Chris, are really great. But overall, the store doesn’t always make the strongest case for buying locally. Prices on modern used gear are usually fair, but trade-in offers are pretty low. Vintage gear (a separate department upstairs) tends to be in rougher condition for the prices they ask.
The website often has inventory issues and isn’t very reliable. Store hours are a bit awkward, but they’re good about holding items if you call. Getting help with special orders has been hit or miss for me, and a few times I ended up buying online instead because of it.

I came in with what I thought was a hopeless situation with a new (to me) film camera. It wasn't working and I had spent a whole day trying everything the internet said with no luck. A friend mentioned bringing it into National Camera which I had never been to before so I decided to stop in as a last ditch effort before mailing my camera somewhere for repair. After tinkering for a good amount of time upstairs, things still were not functioning but I was asked to stay a littlllee bit longer and that's when Auguste and Dave stepped in. We tried all of the same things plus some more creative ideas and *still* nothing, then all of a sudden, as if chosen by the camera gods, Dave suggested an idea and IT WORKED. I still have no idea how but the collective shock was something I will never forget. A HUGE shoutout to Auguste and Dave for sticking with me and not sending me home. One of my dream cameras is now working all thanks to them. I will for sure be returning in the future and asking for them. Thanks so much!!
