I’ve been a customer at National Camera Exchange for years, and recently spoke with Hussain about a Fujifilm camera. Even though I wasn’t buying yet, he walked me through the waitlist, pricing, and shipping, and answered every question clearly.
What really stood out is that he actually remembered details from our past conversations and followed up thoughtfully. He clearly knows cameras, cares about the gear, and is genuinely passionate about photography—which makes his advice really useful!
If you call or stop in, I’d definitely recommend working with Hussain!

I very much appreciate the experience I had. Bought a camera from Target. Wanted a better lens. They handed me one that basically perfectly fit my criteria, once I got home and I did my research. Both staff members got that I was on a budget and pointed me towards what will make me happy. I was ready to return the body to target and buy a used one. But I was more or less told to stick with what I got. I did some online shopping around and I got that old macro for a downright deal. You have all of my future business. I'm just happy to see a specialty store doing well. More so than anything.

Very helpful staff. I ordered a camera lens for my wife for a gift. I not knowing anything about cameras was walked through the whole process and assured that the lens I received was the one she had been dreaming about for a while. Would really like to thank Jen as she helped me with the ordering (it got here very fast). I will definitely be doing business with them in the future as they are helpful and professional.

If I could give a million gold stars, I absolutely would!
TLDR: Amazing local camera shop with knowledgeable, patient staff. Zero pressure, great service, and the best place to actually try gear before buying.
National Camera Exchange is one of those rare places where you walk in once and immediately wonder why you ever shopped anywhere else. It is a true local institution for photographers, whether you are brand new, seasoned, or firmly in the “I only know Auto mode” category, which was me at one point.
Their mission is all about helping people capture and create meaningful images, and their staff truly embody that mission. Every visit, I’m met with friendly, knowledgeable people who actually listen, take their time, and genuinely want to match you with the right gear. No pressure, no upselling, no hint of frustration. Just good humans who care about what they do.
A special shout-out to John, who helped me buy my very first camera in 2023. I walked in with zero experience and a long list of needs, and he guided me to the perfect fit. Zero regrets. I still love that camera.
And then there is Hussain A., who deserves at least a zillion gold stars. He patiently worked with me through what felt like 20 different full-frame and crop options, helped me sort out my must-haves versus nice-to-haves, respected my budget, and made sure I found the camera that felt right in my hands. This was incredibly important for me because of some physical limitations. He truly went above and beyond!
In a world where everything is moving online, there is nothing like being able to try gear in person with people who know what they are talking about. I have never waited more than a few minutes for help, and most of the staff have been there for years, which tells you everything you need to know.
If you are thinking about buying a camera, just go to National Camera Exchange. Support a local shop, get real guidance, and walk out with gear that actually fits you. Why shop anywhere else?
