  Staff at academy sports always solid. Place is clean, always there to help, great products. Shot out to Alex and the crew in the Outdoor department for being helpful, knowledgeable, and professional.

  Terrible experience and even worse customer service! Family member from out of state purchased an item online ($400+ might I add) as a Christmas present for our children to be picked up in-store. Our confirmation email states that we had until 12/17 to pick-up the item or that it would then be cancelled. My husband drove 1hr to pick up the item today (12/16) and was told that the item was cancelled yesterday (12/15) due to it not being picked up within the allotted time. I called and spoke with Tyler (manager?) while my husband was still present who all but said SOL and that he doesn't know why it got cancelled but that he can't help any further outside of recommending that we REORDER the item online for it to be delivered early January to us for an additional $299 delivery fee ... WHAATTTT??!!!! That was the whole reason for us driving an hour to pick up in store to avoid that fee. The item is right in front of you in the store that was already purchased and should have never been cancelled, and that's your recommendation??? You can't reprocess the order with the order number??? In the end, my husband took a picture of the barcode on the box (that was already loaded in our car when they told us it was cancelled by the way) and had to go in and suggest that he just buy the item himself (which was previously purchsed as a gift from family for a helfy price) so that we don't lose the item all together that was a planned Christmas present for our kids. Will NEVVVERRRR give this company another penny of mine, as you the customer do not matter. Some policy revision and/or retraining and education needs to come save this store!

  1 star because there is no option for 0 stars. Terrible customer service. The cashiers are smug and dismissive of their customers. I was there twice in the last 10 days and had two terrible interactions. Both were price related. Make sure you ask for the prices before they ring it up. Their discount signs are misleading at best, if not downright false advertising. It’s total bait and switch. In both of my recent experiences I asked why the items were not discounted per the online price on their website and signage in the store. When we inquired about the price, the cashiers attitudes became immediately defensive and indignant. The first time I asked for a manager and they corrected the price. The second visit, I told them to just put the items back and we would no longer be spending money with Academy. It’s unfortunate, because it’s the only outdoor sports store in Carmel. I recommend taking your business to Dicks Sporting goods and Cabela’s. They both have better selection and much better service.
