On October 28, 2016, Carhartt opened its 30th store, midway between Chicago and Milwaukee, in Gurnee, Illinois. Our Gurnee Town Center store is just off the I-94 freeway in the Gurnee Mills shopping area and just steps from Six Flags Great America.
We are just miles north of Great Lakes Naval Station, where the U.S. Navy trains its future sailors and we are proud to serve those who serve our country.
We strive to outfit all the hard workers that contribute to Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, as well as those who continue to keep it one of the greatest cities in the world. We, at the Carhartt Gurnee location, live by our founder's belief: “I believe when I make a sale, I make a permanent friend."
While many customers praised the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, there were notable complaints about poor service and unprofessional behavior from some employees.
Product Selection
Customers appreciated the variety and quality of Carhartt products available, though some expressed disappointment in the limited options for specific sizes and styles.
Store Experience
The store was frequently described as clean and well-organized, contributing to a positive shopping experience, although some customers reported issues with long wait times and lack of assistance.
Pricing Concerns
Several reviews mentioned that prices were perceived as high, with some customers feeling that the value did not meet their expectations.

My father and I both received a Carhartt flannel as a Christmas gift. We both needed to exchange them because they were the wrong size. We went to the Gurnee store on December 27th, 2025. Two days after Christmas. They did not have our size in store. So the guy working the register told us that he could do a return for our shirts and put the amount paid on a gift card. My dad and I agreed to that. The guy scanned our shirts and gave us both a gift card and receipt of the amount on the card. After I walked out of the store and looked at the amount I was refunded, I noticed it was short. I went back into the store and asked the guy why my refund is short from what the item cost. I even presented him with the original receipt from the day the flannel was purchased. He said the flannels were on a 25% off sale that started the day after Christmas, so that's what I was refunded. He then said "well, you never showed me your receipt when I did the return." I told him he never asked for it and all he said, was he would give us store credit on a gift card for the price paid for the flannel. As if I work there and I know the flannels were put on sale the day after Christmas. At first he attempted to brush it off and said there was nothing he could do because the return was already complete. I said that's not acceptable and something needs to be done. Then he walked away for a few minutes and came back. He took the gift card he gave me and refunded me with a new gift card for the full amount. My dad did not have his receipt with him since the giver of his gift didn't give it to him with the gift. So the guy told my dad there was nothing he could do and my Dad was not given the full refund that was paid for his shirt. So Carhartt got their flannel shirt back and kept $15 of the original price paid for his flannel shirt. Poor customer service and 100% theft.

Clothes are quality but corporate is a joke. They say they will buy your used Carhart but won’t unless it’s brand new looking. Say they support unions but store built by non union. Get reward points but expire and one time use…

Update: 2025 So once again I decided to give this store a chance based on new reviews below and once again I've been disappointed.
Went in store looking for pants and they did not carry the color or fit i was looking for. I was told "we can order them and ship them to your house" and once again, why even bother going to this store if I could order online. ? But apparently the reviews below say "they have everything you could need to tackle jobs" i say Bulljive. Call and ask to make sure you dont waste your time. Not everyone likes baggy pants. Again why is this store even open again? Pointless if being told they'll order online for me.
