Hands down is one of the most luxurious malls in the city in terms of its clothing catalogue. I love that it has premium to luxury stores like Harry Rosen, Burberry, Moose Knuckles, Canada Goose, BOSS, LV, Club Monaco, and Rodd & Gunn.

Virtually every time I've entered Chinook Centre from the ground entrance to the elevated walkway on 61 Ave. SW, across from the train station, there are people idling close to the walkway's doors. Sometimes they're blocking the doors for some reason. Last time I was there, six people were gathered and blocking two of the four doors. It appeared that someone might have been on the ground, surrounded by the group, so I asked if anyone was hurt. Two of the group made threats against me, and another used a homophobic slur. The mall itself is okay, but the local homeless and drug addicts seem to have the run of that walkway's exterior and interior. The side staircase next to the elevators is often filled with people smoking or occupying the steps, probably because it's totally secluded and the mall's security doesn't care about that area. However, for people like me, who don't have a vehicle and use transit, the walkway is the primary entrance into Chinook Centre, especially in winter. I've spoken to the mall's representatives more than once, but it's obviously not a priority for them to enter the building without being harassed or blocked from going in or out. The administration's and security guards' apathy is disappointing. This is a problem that is getting worse over time. I'm not coming back.

If you’re looking for a large, well-appointed shopping mall in Calgary with lots of brand variety and good dining options, CF Chinook Centre is a strong choice. For a stress-free visit: try going during a weekday or early day, carve out extra time for navigation, and if you’re with kids, maybe plan some breaks or check ahead for kid-friendly facilities. If you’re looking for cheaper products then maybe it’s a bit expensive because most of the shops are branded.

great place to shop and hang out. It has a wide variety of stores, from fashion to electronics, and plenty of dining options. The mall is clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate. Parking is usually convenient, and it’s a nice spot for both quick shopping trips and longer visits.

This is still a really great mall! Although they don’t seem to realize the “nostalgia” and “community engagement” is what will bring people back to the mall… this is still a great place to shop. I went to LUSH, which keeps people coming back, because thankfully, we don’t have “smell-a-vision” yet and at LUSH you’ll WANT to feel, smell, touch and try out their new products. On my way out of the mall, I stopped at Wetzels Pretzels and got a piping hot, fresh pretzel with some really nostalgic tasting cheese sauce—I want more! I plan to go back to the mall soon. Malls used to be such a great place for the youth to spend wholesome time. I wish the malls would engage the public more!!! When I was little, at Easter time, Chinook Mall would bring in a little petting zoo with tables of baby chicks and baby bunnies and little lambs! The animal owners dyed the baby’s fur with the pastel colours traditional to Easter time (with food-safe dyes) and you could take photos of your kids petting them. I looked forward to this every single year. They also had a huge fountain people could throw coins into to “make a wish”. The fountain was beautiful and it had a bench all around it where shoppers could rest or drink an Orange Julius or eat a quick hot dog. Santa’s Castle was always amazing! My favourite part was the North-Pole phone booths! They had cute, little, child-size booths and in each was a phone of a different colour with a recorded message, that the tots could listen to as many times as they wished. The red phone was a recorded message from Santa Clause, the white phone was Frosty the snowman, the pink phone was Mrs. Santa Clause, the brown phone was Rudolf, the green phone was the Grinch, etc. They also had the Red Cross doing mobile blood donation, and other mobile booths in the isles making pottery and candle dipping, and their movie theatre had a live stage where they would sometimes have live performances. We even had shows there that called children up to the stage to participate, once they brought a pet TV star—the German Shepard dogs who starred in the TV show, “The littlest Hobo”. They had contests and so many wonderful, family activities! Yes, my childhood was magical, and Chinook Centre was a huge part of it. I have so many ideas on how to bring people back to the Shopping Malls again!❤️💕
