My husband and I really like living here. It's affordable and the office staff are super friendly! Will and Chris have been such a big help with any issues we have! They know us by our first names and are always welcoming!!! When we do have any maintenance problem, it's so easy to call the office to get it fixed! We've never had a problem with maintenance, office staff, and our neighbors! We actually made a friend in our apartment complex which is super nice since we've been living in Middleton the last 2 years and are still new to Dane County. I'm a new mother so when I do need to go in the office, they are always asking how my baby is which is nice because it makes me feel welcomed and comfortable!!! This was our number 1 choice when my husband and I were looking for apartments!! When there is a misunderstanding between the office and us, they are so good about fixing it and turning around to make us happy! They are friendly, knowledgeable, supportive, and caring!! I highly recommend this apartment!!!

I chose Arbor Lakes because I was new to the area and was told Middleton is the safest area to live in, it had a beautiful pond and many included amenities. During my tour I was assured that the apartment complex was very safe, with security cameras posted all over the property and that heat was included in the unit that I was shown. After 1 month of living there, my apartment was broken into while I was at the pool through my window, which to my knowledge was locked, but I was not told by management that in the summer the window locks don't work well due to the heat expansion, so you have to push the window in while locking it in order to ensure it latches correctly. So, he came in through the window, stole my ipad, car keys and jeep. Immediately when I noticed it was gone, I went to the office to ask them to access the security footage so we could catch the guy, and they told me they only have cameras around their office building and provided no assistance or remorse for the situation. The only thing they had to say about their previous promise about the security cameras was "the girl who said that doesn't work here anymore, sorry she said that". Then, I find out I am being charged for heat, when I was told that was included in my unit. They had the same response, "sorry she said that" and it was noted nowhere in the contract that heating is not included in the contract. Even after all that, I decided to resign for another year, because moving is such a hassle and the location was convenient for my work, plus, what else could go wrong? Well, last month (on a Saturday) I walk into my apartment building to find another tenant running around in panic and she says "you may want to check your apartment, it's probably flooding". I enter and sure enough its pouring over all of my things, including my entire closet of expensive work clothes/suits. Come to later find out it had been flooding for 45 minutes before I just happened to walk in. Management/maintenance made no effort to alert me of this so I could have been able to salvage more of my things/prevent damage. I called emergency maintenance immediately, who came in and provided a few buckets, but when I asked them to shut off the water so it would stop coming through my ceiling, they said they don't know how to and the only person who does is not answering their phone. Eventually they figured it out in the next 10 minutes or so, and it took that other person 45 more minutes to show up to shut off the water. Maintenance informed me that the reason for the flooding was due to installer error on the new toilets they made us install a few months prior and said that Arbor Lakes would put me up in a hotel for the night and pay for any dry cleaning fees I may need due to the damage, I was unsure of this, but he assured me that Judy would re compensate me for this all as she has done so in the past. Not having it in writing, I still felt hesitant so I waited on the dry cleaning and stayed with a friend that night-Monday. On Monday, I still hadn't heard from Judy, so I called and she told me they would not be paying for anything, "sorry he said that, that's not the case" and the only way I will receive any re compensation is if I have renters insurance. Then she proceeded to tell me she will be terminating my lease since they have no plans to have my apartment fixed for months at least and I need to find a new apartment ASAP. Thank god I had renters insurance because the apartment was no help at all in a critical time of need and continuously proved to be unfaithful to their word and unsympathetic to their tenants. It's too bad the management is so disappointing, because the property itself is nice, great amenities and fair pricing. However there are many low income tenants in the complex who all squeeze into 1-2 bedrooms, shady characters hanging around/catcalling in the parking lot and many cars have been stolen from the lots (mine was stole by someone who was also living in the same complex as me). If safety and good management is important to you, look elsewhere.
