THIS PLACE IS NOT SAFE. Our daughter has lived here for two and a half years. The large, garage-style doors leading to the parking garage on the first floor of the building have been wide open for months. Because of this, people without homes venture freely into the building, sleeping under the stairs, lighting fires with grass and other materials to stay warm. Sometimes they sleep in the hallways outside of the residence doors. When we call the management office to alert them, they return the call 0% of the time. NEVER. When we visit the front desk, the staff indicates that they have no power to help and they encourage us to call the police. We have called the police weekly (at least) for the past month. They show up, remove the homeless people, and shake their heads at the mismanagement of this building. We have also involved Lt. Washington of the Richmond Fire Department because the fire door at the bottom of the stairs on the Lowe's side was LOCKED FROM BOTH SIDES SO NO ONE COULD ESCAPE IN CASE OF A FIRE. He issued them a violation and he indicated that this was the third such violation in the past several months. I have written letters complaining as well. No response at all. The owners of this building are obviously more than satisfied to take thousands of dollars monthly from each of these college-aged residents and they DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR SAFETY IN THE LEAST. We called the police again tonight, and there was evidence of people living under the stairs in two different stairwells. The staff responds to Google criticism of its horrendous communication with robotic replies about its "documented process to return all messages and arrange follow-ups." This is a complete fabrication. There is no process. I have only been able to get attention from the police and fire department. Ascend is not "looking to enhance your resident experience." They are looking to collect your excessive rent money. That's it. The only phone calls we have ever received from these people are the ones asking for a lease renewal. ***If you are thinking of looking at this apartment building for yourself or for your child, please look somewhere else. This place is not safe.

Acsend is a good apartment complex. The people that work there are nice and do their best even when stuff doesn’t workout. Respect goes both ways, if you’re nice to them they are even nicer to you. If something is broken they try to fix it and even if they need time, harassing them isn’t the way to go. They are respectful, the apartments are nice and the perks you get for the price you pay are just as good. City apartments suck, but these ones are good. Have realistic expectations and be kind, if something is truly upsetting, make it known in a respectful way and they will take care of you. Addie Beene (one of the workers) is an absolute queen when it comes to helping and communicating, she understand and will help you. Be kind and you will get kindness back, it’s not perfect, but it’s good for what you pay and how close it is to campus.

I recently toured this student living apartment community and had an amazing experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the tour feel relaxed and informative. They took the time to explain everything clearly and genuinely seemed invested in making sure students feel comfortable and supported. The property itself is beautiful and perfectly designed for student life. The community is clean, modern, and well maintained, with great amenities and spaces that feel ideal for studying, relaxing, and socializing. Overall, this community really stands out for student living. Between the supportive staff and the stunning property, it feels like a great place for students to live, learn, and feel at home.

LOOK ELSEWHERE )) Our washing machine has been broken for a week now. We haven’t been able to wash our clothes at all, mind you there is 4 of us. We have called the front desk and received no answer many times, then we talked to them Face to face and was met with the answer of “Sorry there’s nothing I can do”. Then we got a call that maintenance came and readjusted our washing machine.. but we were home and no one came in to fix it.. so they lied. We called for normal maintenance and then also after hours maintenance, both never came and fixed it throughout the week. We have to now wait until Monday morning because there will be no one in the building that works for ascend on weekends. ( If you need any help during the weekend good luck you won’t be getting any!) Management dodges calls constantly, no communication, also our new roomate walked into our apartment without us given any communication on when they were coming ( violation of lease; landlord is supposed to update tenants of when someone new will be moving in ). Ascend is built poorly btw, it’s very bad quality. Walls are thin you can hear every sound from outside your apartment in the hallway to even inside your apartment. Also they overcharge for parking and there’s like no spots so you’ll be put on a waitlist 99% of time. I will admit the apartments are not the worst thing in the world but realistically it’s not worth the money you’re paying. The rent costs so much for bad management + service. Some of the people that work here are very nice and do their best and work hard but it’s unfortunate it’s not everyone. Also they will constantly be in your face about renewing your lease, and the later you wait the cheaper it is so don’t fall for the “this is the lowest we’re going scam” they go lower with prices. Also we were promised a sign up bonus or something along the lines of that and we have not gotten that .. there’s many reasons why we will be looking elsewhere but take my advice and go to parc view atp
