Was greatly dissatisfied with Clayton Homes of Roanoke. Sales representative was dishonest. Quoted a price, but when a loan app was approved for significantly over the "quote" price, suddenly the sales person started stalling. Offered several other smaller homes, at larger prices. Couldn't give us firm numbers, but was able to contact our loan officer and ask for more credit. Since we already had almost fifty thousand over quote price, I found this extremely troubling.

I have recommended many customers to Clayton Homes over the years and have had and made multiple purchases. I would not recommend the new staff at Hollins Clayton Home Branch if they paid me. After we purchased our current home the entire branch staff was replaced by a new staff and contractors in the middle of completing the finishing touches on our home. The staff that originally handle our home were prompt with phone calls and sending out workers to finish loose ends. This team avoids phone calls, does not reply to voice mails, and gives you the run around instead of customers service. We called within our warranty time before the pandemic and never got calls back or anyone sent out to the home to complete our water system. During this time we entered into a global pandemic and understood that things would be a bit different. After no contact for almost a year we finally had no choice but to drive down to Roanoke from Union Hall to speak with someone in person about finishing our water system. Which has resulted in our septic plumbing not draining properly and backing up into the house. Along with our well not being lifted as proposed to us 2 years ago, when the staff was being eliminated without notice to us, causing us to have to buy bottled water because there is so much sediment in our filtered water. The sediment has caused us to have to replace multiple faucets and now the water heater, well pump, and entire septic all have to be replaced. After being ignored by phone and paying thousands out of pocket to get through the wait. We finally had to drive to Roanoke to wait in a room for almost 45 minutes for Keith Workman, of whom was standing in the next room doing nothing when we got there, after an hour and half drive to be told that our warranty was now up and the insurance would cover it. Wrong! We understand that there is a global pandemic, but that is no excuse for not contacting a paying customer and avoiding calls until a warranty runs out when the issue was brought to attention an entire 2 years before the warranty ran out. He and Luke took my initial calls stating they would call back when they found our information and never did. Then during these initial calls with them I was told to call the original contractors of whom no longer worked for Clayton and were running a family business that had nothing to do with our issue. So I did so and of course that number was a dead end. I called back trying to avoid in person contact during a pandemic crisis, finally having to go to them and getting nothing done. I will be contacting the branch owner to make a formal complaint and recommend that they make another change. $150k plus $20k to fix something that should not even be happening if the new staff had followed up with existing customers and continued the work of the there predecessors. Clayton Homes Hollins needs to try again. The new staff is rude, lazy and incompetent about the company policies and requirements. I have worked with this company since 2007 when they had 2 Roanoke branches and can say that the quality is not a result of the brand it is a result of the branch staff. If anyone needs to get a new home I recommend going to a different more experienced customer friendly branch until Hollins hires a staff who shows initiative and exemplifies or at the least meet quality customer service standards. Reply: The home wasn't out of warranty when we were told that someone would come and finish the job then got the run around for 2 years because no one responded to voice-mail or calls. And we were told the contractors for our home no longer worked for this location of Clayton in the middle of the process. We understood that they had multiple homes they were working on a gave them time to get to us only to find out they were all no longer with Clayton. Then the new team claimed not to know anything and after calling back multiple times were given a number to people who no longer work for the company meaning under warranty and promise by Clayton to finish a job we would've had to pay put of pocket.
