Before living at the Bloc I had heard a lot of bad things about it and about the area it’s in. But I decided to lease year for my sophomore year and it has been nothing but perfect for me and my roommates. The pool is amazing and I love living here and having my friends come over. I think it was the best place to live for my sophomore year!

Don’t live here. Even if you think you can be a clean and neat person, you will still get roaches. Every night my kitchen has 1 crawling around. We have had pest control come several times to no avail. Maybe one of the causes of the fact that the conditions here are DISGUSTING! They took away our trash cans and we are expected to leave full trash bags right outside our door or they won’t get picked up. I haven’t walked the halls once and not seen rotten food, roaches, or just general grime. It always smells like mildew and the floor and stairs are covered in stains. It’s obvious that the only areas being cleaned is the main office. That is until you go into the elevator or staircase that smells like drugs and pee and head up to the gym that is not cleaned, nor the bathroom that looks like a biohazard. Onto management, the employees do not really care, and always change their mind regardless about what they tell you. They have lost multiple letters I have gotten, without being sent to returner. Employees will go home during times they are supposed to be open, and close the office with no notice very often. My AC unit has been broken for a month, my ice maker has been broken for the past 2 years, and we didn’t have a working my dishwasher for the first month. Our washing machine ripped up clothes and leaves blue and gray stains no matter what. When moving in, it was obvious my room hadn’t even been touched my a rag, and was covered in grime and dust and pet hair everywhere. Good luck trying to get in contact with the office because they use a bot to answer phones and all of the reviews. The area is relatively good, besides all of the homeless people. Recently , all of the cars parked on the side of our building had their mirrors smashed. The bloc just responded by telling everyone to call the cops… I’ve also had my car towed twice here while paying for a reserved spot and using my stickers. The keypad to scan in to get to the gates will malfunction and just decide to not work all of the time l, along with the parking garage gate. This can be dangerous considering all of the people that are sketchy and hang around outside. Even if the rates seem low, they add stuff to your bill and say that you signed for it even if you’ve never heard of it and it’s not in the lease. I’ve had to contact several different companies to be taken off of different services that I never agreed to simply because they thought they should get paid for them. When I would tell the office that I never agreed to it, they would say that it’s in my lease, but whenever I would check the lease, there’s nothing in there and the employees would not care. They are probably one of the worst things about living here if you ever have an issue, they will do the opposite of help you. If you are sensitive to the smell of weed, definitely don’t live here either because it’s always lingering in the air no matter where You’re walking. We have two dog parks and the one in the corner with fake turf smells like pee, even just walking by because it never gets cleaned and pee and poop just pile up. Sometimes you get an email letting you know that people will need to be entering your unit but other times maintenance will just come into your apartment with no notice unlock your door and just start checking things out for no reason and when you ask them about it they just say that they’re doing checkups. This obviously raises some safety concerns if you’re living in an apartment with four women when a man comes in unnoticed and starts “checking things out”. Pay the extra $50-$100 and live anywhere else.

I’ve been on many tours with both Justin and Paris and they both did very well. Every question me and my friends had got answered well and honestly, and that helped us and our stress about choosing the right place to call home next year! I’m very grateful for how welcoming everyone has been at the Bloc!
