Place is overpriced. I thought the place was going to be affordable, but my lord the fees hit, and they don’t stop going up. My apartment smelled like cigarettes and was infested with roaches when I moved in. Management was very inconsistent. If you can avoid, do avoid. Complex is from the 80s too. Just avoid.

I don't really know where to begin; there are so many things I want to say, so many experiences I've had living in this country in different apartments over the years, but this one has undoubtedly been the worst.
Let me explain, starting with the following points:
1- The office staff are the most manipulative and inept people you could ever meet. They are arrogant and unpleasant, not to mention their lack of ethics and poor manners for this type of work.
2- The apartments are infested with insects, cockroaches of all types and sizes.
3- The property is practically nonexistent, with men entering at any hour as if they lived there. They steal packages you buy with hard work and sacrifice. I even had the bitter experience of being robbed in my own car once, and guess what? I went to the office several times to file a complaint, but it was useless because they didn't resolve anything at all. Believe me, it's frightening to live in this property.
4- I could never enjoy the pool because of how poorly it's maintained.
5- It's painful to see how much water they waste at night, supposedly watering the lawn, and then when it comes time to collect the utilities, they overcharge us.
I have proof of everything I'm saying, and I can assure you that this is one of the worst properties to live in Austin, Texas.

2/10 — I strongly discourage anyone from moving here.
I would not recommend this complex. The actual construction of the apartment is very subpar. The carpet is constantly breaking apart, and it’s very clear someone painted the trim after the carpet was installed, as you can see paint on the carpet (see picture). The tiles are cracked and loose when you step on them. I’ve been working very hard to keep our place clean, yet I still notice bugs that were already here. The interior is tolerable — the real problem is the overall complex.
Broken glass is literally everywhere you look. Cigarette buds and beer bottles too. Kids are constantly running around and touching people’s cars. Some misbehaved dogs poop everywhere you step. The dog park is a joke — it has a broken gate and is covered in dog poop and pee, making it basically unusable (see video). It always smells awful because the garbage trucks leak liquid as they drive around, so the entire area smells like garbage water and dog waste. Most residents are never held accountable when they throw garbage in random places or spill it around the trash areas. Others constantly litter or let their pets roam unsupervised on patios or surrounding areas (see video). Management is awful — they constantly claim to be busy or short-staffed, yet it doesn’t seem that way.
My boyfriend has been waiting approximately 35 days for a garage to be assigned to him. There is no waitlist; he’s just been ignored or stalled. The one they claimed he could have was actually already in use. They spent two weeks saying they were “getting it ready,” only for a maintenance worker to tell us it had been occupied for a long time and no one was “getting it ready.” My boyfriend has been stopping by the office every other day for over a month to ask about it, and he’s just been fed excuse after excuse. He simply wants a garage so the kids stop messing with his car — he doesn’t even care how far it is from our unit. Unsupervised young kids play in the streets, with no mind for traffic or people around them (see video). I have seen them hit or sit on peoples cars before. I also witnessed some kids starting an OPEN FIRE in the parking lot next to a car (see video). This complex desperately needs a better vetting process for tenants.
While I have met a few nice people, I’d say at least half the residents behave inconsiderately and don’t respect basic social norms. Pretty much all of the “amenities” are unusable — either because no one maintains them and they’re disgusting, or because of the types of people living here who have no sense of responsibility or cleanliness. Even if you happen to use an “amenity” on a day it looks suspiciously clean, it’s impossible to trust it given how filthy everything else is.
The one compliment I have is for the nice groundskeeper in the golf cart. He’s always smiling and greeting people, and it seems like he’s the only one ever doing any work. He’s the only nice thing I have to say about this place. I know the price may appeal to some people, but I urge you to spend a day touring the entire complex, as they keep the front area near the office more presentable to lure people in.
Do not move here if you want to live somewhere that resembles any form of the word "pleasant".

I haven’t been at canyon ridge no more than a month or two and my time has definitely been less than favorable. From the apartment not being ready on move in day and being very dirty once I was actually able to get moved in, the active leak etc. … overall just not impressed with the quality and service so far.
