- SKsamir khalafAug 19, 20251.0“Don’t be fooled by the hardwood floors, new paint, and low rent. This property has serious safety concerns. Within my first 10 days here someone started a fire in the building. No fire alarm went off during the incident, and debris from the fire was left for days. The leasing office staff didn’t appear aware of what happened, or if they were, they didn’t have it cleaned up promptly. There is no on-site security, no cameras in the stairwells, and no visible maintenance presence. I have already experienced loitering in the stairwells, including individuals approaching me for money. Residents regularly smoke Marijuana near the building despite posted “no loitering” rules, which are not enforced until I complained. The property is advertised as pet-friendly, but there is no grass on-site and no dog waste stations—making it very inconvenient for pet owners. The only nearby grass is next to the strip mall where the double stabbing occurred. The surrounding area is a major concern. In December 2022, a man was shot and killed at this very property (then operating as Stayover Lodge at 2070 McMillan Ave) (ABC News 4). In May 2025, just steps away at McMillan & Spruill, there was a double stabbing (Live 5 News). On a city-wide level, North Charleston is ranked among the top 100 most dangerous cities in the U.S. with about 57 crimes per 1,000 residents—a 1 in 18 chance of becoming a victim (NeighborhoodScout). Even Park Circle, which is advertised as “minutes away,” has mixed safety reviews: one local noted, “good and bad parts right near each other,” and advised staying cautious (Reddit). While the apartment interiors look nice and the neighbors I’ve met have been kind, the overall environment feels unsafe. I’ve started documenting my experience with photos and videos to protect myself legally. If you value safety, I would recommend looking elsewhere—don’t make the same mistake I did.”
