  My sister lives here, one issue after another. Apartment was disgustingly dirty when she moved in. Took us 2 whole days to clean apartment without any sentiment from management staff. Also, her ac has been broken since she moved in a year ago with emails to management regarding issue going unanswered. The incompetence of maintenance is overwhelming. I don't even think they could unclog a toilet. Oh, and her toilet was clogged when she moved in so yeah, they can't even unclog a toilet. I'm writing this review to warn people if you plan on moving here this is what is like. Pool is always dirty, hallways never get vacuumed and people leave their trash out in the hallway all the time and management could care less. Seriously, you will have to step over the garbage in the hallways. And the hallways, they smell so bad, like an animal died. Good luck if you move here, place should be condemned.

  I lived at Central Island Square for seven months, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. From the beginning, I was treated disrespectfully and felt like a second-class resident. Communication from staff was often condescending, and several interactions crossed the line into unprofessional behavior. Overall, the staff appeared poorly trained and ill-equipped to handle resident concerns. Rachel, who was presented as the head of the office, was frequently unavailable—often out of the office or on vacation. When issues were raised, responses were dismissive and problem-solving was ineffective. The amenities were consistently neglected: the bikes were usually broken, the pool was dirty, and trash was often left sitting in hallways for extended periods, causing strong odors that smelled like cat litter and spoiled food. The property is significantly overpriced for what you receive. It was also far from peaceful. The walls are extremely thin—you can hear neighbors snoring—and the ceilings offer little sound insulation, so anyone living below another unit should expect constant noise from footsteps and stomping. I also attempted to resolve issues through the corporate office in Baltimore. Unfortunately, that effort went nowhere. Promises were made but not followed up on, and communication felt dismissive and unapproachable. I documented multiple instances of unprofessional conduct during my time there, including inappropriate tone and poor handling of simple questions. I chose not to escalate further and instead focus my energy elsewhere. In short, I would not recommend Central Island Square. If you value professionalism, responsiveness, and a peaceful living environment, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. I hope this review helps others make a more informed decision.

  Worst apt complex on the island. it's just a horrible place. All the negative reviews are 100% legit. I've been here only a few months and my experience has been a nightmare. Don't even give this complex the benefit of the doubt, it's really bad. You have been warned.

  Central Island is a gorgeous property, with an amazing staff!! I lived here for 6 months and only moved due to relocation. I would have stayed here for years to come! The staff genuinely care about their residents and making people happy. They go above and beyond to ensure that their residents feel heard, and that their needs are attended to as quickly as possible. All of my neighbors were so sweet!! My neighbors directly next to me would cook me dinner every weekend & the community itself is full of the friendliest faces often with adorable pups as well! I highly recommend this property over any property in Charleston! No apartment community is perfect just like no business is perfect, but if you want a very safe, enjoyable, well-kept place to live where you will find a lovely community of people then this might be the place for you :)
