We are currently 7 months into our 1 year lease. Upon moving in, I immediately had to deal with the last tenants fleas, the mold, the German cockroaches and the maintenance what was supposed to be done but wasn’t. It took me going into the front office multiple times to get an exterminator to our unit who was only able to treat the cockroaches, but not the fleas because I would essentially have to move out of the unit I had just unpacked and moved into.
They left the garbage disposal clogged and there is a leak around a suspiciously placed electrical box underneath my sink, and every time a maintenance request ticket is put in, they close it without sending someone to even check. This has happened 4 times now.
We’re dealing with literal RATS eating into our furniture on our own, and leaving waste that is causing illness because once again, there’s no point in submitting maintenance request tickets, as it will either sit for months or will be closed with no warning.
Moving into this apartment has made me so physically sick from the untreated mold problems, the cockroach and rat waste and the general filth left by other tenants (like finding bullets inside the washing machines on multiple different occasions).
If you’re going to live here, you need to know a contractor, have the money to hire your own exterminator and not have any health complications.

I just want to say for starters I want to give the groves apartment a 5/10 because the neighborhood is terrible !!! I was in a car accident right in front of the complex so my car was sitting there for a while.. when it was time for me to go get my car someone STOLE ALL 4 TIRES !!! Then not only that their roads inside the complex are bad as well . Pot holes EVERYWHERE so one night my boyfriend & I was coming into the complex the back way.. he eased his way in but unfortunately the pot holes had messed it the front of his car leaving a broken piece that he needs to get fixed ! & lastly they need to come up with a better policy for people that have dogs cause it be dog SHIT everywhere especially the walk way because there’s shit all around… I’ve even stepped in it so with that being said it’s not a bad to live but it needs some work & also the hot water be feeling like a bag of ice .

If I could give a negative star review I would. I live here out of necessity, not out of choice. Mainteance is a joke. A light in the parking lot in front of my building is still out after 3 years. I’ve left messages and text messages asking to please blow off the sidewalk. When they are covered with pine straw there is a serious chance of slipping. The light near the post office boxes is strobing and there is about 2 inches of pine straw on the sidewalk.
My messages and text have gone unanswered and ignored.
Does the front office care? In 3 leases, rent has increased 5%, 3% and 5%. Where is my ROI? Return on investment. What am I getting out of it for the extra money? In 3 years, I have NEVER had an exterminator come into my apartment. NEVER. When I had roaches living in the apartment when I moved in, I treated it myself to get rid of them.
Trash pickup? I’ve been told it’s every night. No, it’s not. I’ve had bags outside my door for over a week before it was picked up. I found out later that it was done by a neighbor, not the garbage crew.
The front office CANT care because they don’t live here and they have not made that personal investment like the people who DO live in the apartments.

Nasty bathrooms, old toilet seats, mold on walls, spider webs, broken refrigerator, closet doors off track, nasty cabinets, no handles on any of closet doors, broken windows, nasty dishwasher, cracked and broken doors. The model unit that they showed looks nothing like the unit we have. Also, we didn’t walk the unit they gave us before signing lease only seen the model unit and expected the same. I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX AND WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!!

I would strongly advise against considering renting an apartment here. I don't live there myself, but I know someone who does, and honestly, I'm not impressed. Let's just say from the moment you drive onto the property, you'll see that getting your car in and out is going to be quite the experience. The roads within the complex are in poor condition and require maintenance. This suggests how much the owners and managers prioritize their property. Furthermore, their posted business hours begin at 8:30 am...Not so I called multiple times starting at 8:30 am and still got no answer. I believe the advertising is misleading regarding this property .Additionally, I encountered rudeness from Karen when I attempted to address concerns on behalf of my friend. She kept talking over me without listening effectively to my concerns.Lastly, my friend who is a disabled resident of The Grove Apartments has literally put in multiple work orders for her hot water and still two months later there is still no hot water. This is truly unacceptable because this interferes with the care for my friend. Her caregivers literally have to arrive approx. Thirty minutes prior to the time she is typically supposed to receive care, I had to take the initiative to provide her with hot water by heating it up on the stove. The weather conditions this week have been particularly harsh and freezing. Given the severity of the cold, it's imperative that someone with a senior level of authority is made aware of these living conditions. Based on what I have observed, these conditions clearly violate established codes and policies regarding acceptable living standards. It is unacceptable that anyone, especially those with disabilities, should be living under these conditions. Action should be taken regarding contacting the news station, the Department of Environment and Climate Change (Dhec), the business license office, or other relevant authorities to rectify this issue.
