This is the worst place I’ve ever lived. When I went to get my keys from the leasing office for move in, the man working offered to do a walk through but I denied (it was the day before Thanksgiving so I was trying to be nice and I’ve lived at other Burns Management apartments and never had issues with move in before). This was my second mistake, first one was signing a lease with them. The apartment was filthy, unlocked, and a door that connected a bedroom to the SHARED hallway where other people’s doors to their apartments are, was just missing the lock and the door knob, so there were two lovely holes from my bedroom to the hallway. There were no blinds in one of the bedrooms and the shower has a window in it that also didn’t come with blinds. The bathroom doesn’t have any ventilation or a fan, so the window would make sense however, it doesn’t open more than half an inch and there were bees living in the window! They told me not to worry because the nest looked abandoned and it was since it was winter, but spring did eventually come and so did the bees. They did take care of the bees but why not just get rid of it during the winter? When the guy who came to get rid of the bees, he showed up in a t-shirt with no company logo or anything and a can of Raid. He was with a maintenance person, but they seemed unprepared. They asked me for a long stick to poke at the nest with and then asked for a wire hanger. They then destroyed the hanger to make it a long wire, threw the bees nest into my bathroom garbage, and tried to give me the broken hanger back for some odd reason. The next day a man, again, wearing a regular t-shirt but this time he has two unlabeled containers with liquid just let himself into my apartment, not with maintenance or anything. He claimed he was there for the bees. I had to ask him to leave and explain someone else did so. It was obviously frightening and weird. My apartment was so dirty I couldn’t move anything in until I cleaned the floors and surfaces at least. This led to me overstaying my other lease (also a burns mgmt property and they still charged me for the extra day). The area under the cabinets is almost disintegrating and so is the sink, either due to the poor ventilation and constant exposure to moisture or maybe nothing has been replaced in the past 45 years. The inside of the cabinets I tried to clean but the last person put some kind of wallpaper on the inside so it doesn’t get clean. Also 2 shelves in the cabinets have fallen on me cause they were missing a peg in the back and I didn’t notice cause I’m under 5ft and why would I think a shelf in my apartment wouldn’t be stable. They turn off power, heat, hot water, anything they want without warning and when I call stating I’m upset they just say it was an emergency. Today they woke me up at 9 am banging on my door telling me I have to take my air conditioners out of my windows (I get out of work around 3am so I was obviously still sleeping and not very happy). When I call and ask why they couldn’t warn me that was needed they said “the city said it was an emergency and they only were told today it had to be done.” That was a lie, the crane was outside yesterday and they were doing things yesterday. They are just painting the windowpanes outside the building (I didn’t realize that was considered an emergency for the city). Everyone who works here is rude and lies. They dance around what’s actually legal, claiming their building is up to code but almost monthly has emergency maintenance that needs to be done. At least they claim it’s emergency maintenance and that’s why they can never warn you about turning off heat, hot water, electricity, etc. When I explain my increasing frustrations they say they aren’t going to argue since “the building is up to code” and “if I’m unhappy then I should leave,” (thanks Jane, Im trying to). Here are some lovely photos of the “up to code building”.
TLDR: anyone moving in Schenectady should run away unless they actually put time and money into this building or switch management companies.

If you enjoy living in the 1970s, this apartment building is for you. I was told when I moved in that new cabinets and appliances would be installed..I’m mostly through my lease and that has yet to happen. Power goes out often if you have to run an air conditioner. You have to take the smoke detector off to cook because the oven is dirty and outdated no matter how hard you clean it. It also smells like gas that I have addressed before with no help. Neighbors are okay. Rent is overpriced for being offered a bare-bones apartment. Definitely will be looking for someplace else.

I’ve been renting here for 2 months now and there’s issues left and right. I was given a virtual tour due to COVID and when I moved in I found the cabinets in the kitchen old and decaying and the porcelain sink in the bathroom falling off the wall. There were many other issues but they did fix them mostly. Maintenance is nice. However there are beetles all over my apartment and they had the nerve to suggest I brought them before sending someone. After they did the issue still has not approved. I call many times and am always told someone will get back to me and they don’t. You have to call and remind them if you want a single thing done. On top of that the neighbor upstairs goes on homophobic rants and stomps his foot if I close a door or make even the slightest noise. When my new cabinets were being installed he jumped up and down for hours yelling. A real lunatic. Pass on this complex. The neighborhood itself is nice though.

I've moved into the Edison Apartments in Schenectady Jan 2018 due to my job. I was brand new to the Upstate, NY area and did not know a soul. I used the app Zillow and came across a Studio posting at the Edison Apartments sister property.
The sister property immediately connected me to the Edison property and I received a phone call right away. One of the property mangers Jill Ferrara has been EXCELLENT help with me from day one!
Since I was moving from a different state over 3 & 1/2 hours away, coming to view the apartment was extremely tough between Jill and I's schedule. However she and I made it work and thanks to today's technology I was able to view the apartment though FaceTime. This was a first for the both of us and we made it work.
The studio I was interested in needed a lot of renovations and I was willing to wait. The Unit was truly worth the wait. Hardwood floors, ceiling fan, multiple windows which made for great natural lighting, great size tube, 2 closets (a women's dream come true!) and overall a great space for a single individual. As a result Jill and her team made sure my residence at the apartment was nothing short of comfortable, safe, and clean!
As of August 2019 my job required me to move again, this time the notice was very short and it didn't give me much time to prep. Anyone who knows and travels for work understands when assigned a different territory you must go. Jill worked with me very well to make the transition for both of us moved smoothly. Communication was very key!
As a tenant who not only was breaking their lease but also gave very short notice, Jill maintained a very high level of professionalism with me. She could of easily of gotten frustrated, but understood my work profession and things such as my situation does happen.
Overall, Jill is one of a kind. In the beginning of getting to know each other we discovered we had the same birthday. Instantly a warming and good vibe was given off! I highly recommend anyone local or far to do business with the Edison Apartments Property Mangers, especially Jill!
Thanks Jill and team!
