  I have lived at the Modern for almost two years and renewing again. The complex provides convenient parking and has one of the best locations in town with proximity to the downtown area and the train to Manhattan. The property manager Nikole is excellent and any time i have asked her for something she has responded in under 24 hours! The maintenance staff is top notch and keeps the building spotless and the gym and the pool round out what i consider to be a full service luxury elevator building; wish i could buy my unit!

  Been a resident of The Modern for 6+ years, through multiple owners and management companies. It's a great building - and a great place to live. It's right downtown - I catch Metro-north trains and leave the building 2 minutes before their arrival - and yet there's little if any train (or downtown) noise. Saw some other reviews mentioning bugs - with photos. Those are lantern flies that have been popping up everywhere the past few years. I have a patio unit and have grown an herb and vegetable garden each summer I've lived here - those lantern appear in the garden, as well. Sort of like complaining about cicadas. The current management is highly responsive to suggestions and requests. The super fixed one of my heaters in 5 minutes the other day, and just returned to take care of something else - all within two days of my request. I also work an unusual overnight shift - I sleep until after 1pm every day. Every staffer has been amazingly understanding - and has worked with me and my schedule since it began - no one has ever entered my apartment without warning, or while I slept, or while I was in the shower. And I'd be the single most likely person here to experience that. The Modern is not a "super luxury, high convenience" top-end building (nor do rents reflect that). It does not have a 24-hour doorman, or full-time concierge - no one sorts the packages in the mail room, residents do that themselves. Really, they just let people live as they want to live, and only get involved in disputes or when problems arise - which seems like the approach most people would want and seek. It may not be for the "bespoken suit" and "top-end fashion" set (then again, perhaps it can be!)... But it's a darn nice place to call home, in the heart of our hardscrabble and ever-evolving village. Fallen in love with Port Chester and the Modern is my happy home. Would be more likely to move out of PC altogether than to consider swapping my place here for something in one of the newer buildings that are going up. See you round the mailroom or pool sometime!

  Showed interest in renting here and got blown off by the leasing agent when I came for an open house. Never got any response or explanation from him.

  Almost two years of living here and management and the building have shown time and time again about the short comings. Move here if you want monthly apartment inspections and maintenance. The management team doesn’t schedule things probably causing numerous privacy violations. We have had maintenance people walk into our apartment while sleeping. Moved into the apartment, flooring coming up in spots, cracks in drywall, dishwasher didnt have proper parts when I moved in, outside areas full of dog poop that nobody picks up, multiple instances of a pitbull attacking residents with management refusing to enforce the terms of the lease and allowing them to stay until their lease expired. Many broken heater units leaving residents with no heat and sometimes flooded apartments. The pool is never open and the garage door breaks on a regular basis. Building has a nice location but many things wrong with it and very very poorly managed.
