- KHKatherine Hurtado-CassoneJan 2, 20261.0For future tenants of The Modern beware. This is the response they will give you. They will NOT help you. In fact they will be aware of the living conditions and not care about their tenants. And do nothing to help them. Do not rent here.
- KHKatherine HurtadoDec 9, 20251.0Here is another photo of water damage that was left for days before anything was done. This was from this summer. A few months ago. Was the water damage fixed? We don't know as tenants were never told. However, I personally saw a maintenance worker painting over the damage and putting up new wallpaper up. Tenants should not be treated with retaliation in any form for wanting safe living conditions. If it bothers management that tenants are "annoying" for wanting healthy living conditions and bothering them so much, then simply fix it. It's the law. It's the tenants right.

Attached is a photo of tenant rights as provided by New York State. Not slander but the law. Reporting and living in improper conditions is not crime but the right of the tenant. I think all tenants have a right to now what they are getting into. And how they will treated.
- KCKatherine CassoneDec 7, 20251.0I have to agreed with Bryan, I had a worker walk in on me while I was coming out of bathroom after I showered completely unannounced. It was disturbing and humiliating. As well as degrading. The worst problem about The Modern is the latern bug infestation. Many residents have complained about it. And they did nothing. Look how disgusting this is. My apartment faces the tree with the worst infestation. I reported it to the state. As a result of them doing nothing and not responding to the state. We are currently being asked to leave. These bugs carry and eat black mold. As part of New York State law this is a form of retaliation. It also part of New York State law, to provide safe and healthy living conditions for all residents. They did not do that with this on-going issue. When I asked The Modern why our apartment was on their website for rent, they gaslit me and my husband saying it wasn't. In this tough economy they are willing to put people on the street. Rather than fix a problem on their property.
