BEWARE..BEWARE..UNLESS YOU ARE A DIY TYPE PERSON KNOW THAT MAINTENANCE IS INADEQUATE, INEPT AND VERY CARELESS. MY YOUNG PERSON RENTS FROM UNIVERSITY RIDGE WHERE WE ARE CO SIGNERS; ITS ONLY BEEN A FEW MONTHS AS A TENANT FOR HER HOWEVER SEVERAL SITUATIONS HAVE OCCURRED FROM PESTS TO LEAKING HVAC SYSTEM TO A DEADLY CO2 GAS LEAK(WHICH WAS CORRECTLY DETECTED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT). MANAGEMENT HAD NO ANSWERS AS THE INADEQUATE MAINTENANCE DIDN'T SURPRISE THEM. WHEN A PERSON'S LIFE IS IN DANGER THAT MATTERS, HOWEVER IN THIS CASE IT ONLY MATTERED TO THE CITY OF DURHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT. BEFORE SIGNING ON THE DOTTED LINE YOU BETTER ASK YOURSELF ABOUT LIFE OR DEATH REGARDING CO2 ISSUES WITH THESE FOLKS AND CHECK THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTS..

Don’t move here, you better off staying at Churchill. The whole staff a bunch of duds. The manager has a bird brain, she gonna try to have a fake attitude with you because she don’t know how to be a real woman or even just be professional and own up to being wrong. I don’t know how she got the position she’s in now. She’s never there to help. Bro from Maintenance left a gas tank in our apartment that was still on and didn’t let us know. They could’ve killed us and the manager gonna say “Sorry about this minor incident”… they got roaches, we told them we had mold the tried to say it was paint.. everything be broken. The rooms way smaller than they advertised. The windows painted shut??? Apartment wasn’t ready upon arrive we had to freak it, they still trying to fix things. If I’m lying I’m flying! If I see someone touring I’ll make it my mission to let them know how disturbing these clowns are.

Recently dealt with a potential CO2 gas leak from maintenance leaving behind equipment. We called out emergency maintenance and all they did was change the detector and told us we were ok. Thank God we still didn't feel save and called the fire department. They confirmed CO2 present but it actually turned out to be acetylene from one of the tanks that was left behind but we still had to have 5/6 fire trucks each with about 3/4 firefighters come out to ensure our safety. That night we could barely even get in contact with maintenance (took about 4/5 calls) let alone management (it was around 6:30/7 so office was closed but there is supposed to be someone for emergencies), even the firefighters couldn't believe that we couldn't get in contact with anyone. Eventually our apartment was deemed safe but we still didn't feel safe so we stayed with a friend. The next morning we go to the office because we had a very traumatic night there's something they can offer us right? Wrong. We were told it was a minor incident that happened on accident and since everything is ok now we should essentially just move on. I understand being a college student sometimes complexes ignore us or think we are doing too much/dramatic but this was insanely serious. If we had listened to the first maintenance man who said we were ok and lit a match or turned on our dryer and it sparked my roommate and I would've been blown up. The lack of empathy was very evident talking to the manager and assistant manager of the property. I understand we have a lot going on in life but when a resident comes to you expressing their grievances about a very traumatic night hoping for something other than a bs apology it would be nice to be met with something other than the problem is fixed so what do you expect us to do?

We’ve been living at University Ridge Apartments for about five months, and our experience has been disappointing.
When we moved in, the laundry room had mold, and even though we asked for both machines to be replaced, only the washer was changed. The dryer, which was already here when we moved in, was never replaced.
There are spiders and cockroaches around the complex. Management says they spray regularly, but that hasn’t been our experience.
The gates are unsafe — one hit my mother-in-law’s car while my wife and I were riding with her. Other cars in the community have visible damage from similar incidents.
The dog park rarely has waste bags available, and the pool is not properly sanitized. The stone areas around the pool have visible mold.
Oh, and be careful with the trash cans — if you leave your empty trash bin outside, they will charge you $50 for it. The only reason we don’t bring our trash can inside is because there are so many spiders around it. Imagine bringing those spiders into our apartment — it’s not sanitary or safe. If this happens, you can just take your trash bin to the office instead.
Overall, the property is not maintained as described, and basic safety and sanitation need serious attention. I hope management takes residents’ concerns more seriously.
