If you ever need help with anything don’t go to Madison at the leasing office. She is very rude and treats you like you’re just an annoyance to her and acts like it’s not her job to help you. I’ve had previous encounters with Tony which were 1000x better. Don’t go to Madison, thank me later.

We lived in The Reserve at Barry for a year and are now moving out. Overall, this place has many advantages. We stayed in a premium two-bedroom apartment, so all the appliances and cabinets were either new or barely used. The maintenance service is excellent—whenever we submitted a request, they usually showed up the very next day.
The apartment also has a cozy fireplace, which was perfect for snowy winter nights. The location is very convenient, with Walmart and Hy-Vee just a couple of minutes away. The community offers nice amenities like swimming pools and a park, which are great for families with young kids like ours.
The only reason we’re leaving is because our family has grown, and with three kids now, we need a larger space. Unfortunately, the three-bedroom apartments here are a bit out of our budget.
Finally, a special thanks to Madisyn—she’s great! She always responded to my emails quickly and took care of everything in a timely manner.

Helpful staff, they stay busy but always take the time to acknowledge you and your concerns, issues or just a "good job!" Only issue is we wish there were more security cameras,or coded gates installed at entrances/exits, or off duty cops/,security driving the property. (Yes,I know you can not escape crime anywhere, anytime these days) but,you can do more /install more deterrents . Get these crimes on camera trying to enter w/no code or trying to jump over a gate. Security should be TOP PRIORITY,ALWAYS. I know times, money &things are hard for regular everyday people to businesses but anything would be helpful.

We lived at this apartment complex for 2 years and recently moved out. I would NOT recommend signing a lease here. We regretted resigning after management changed a few months into the second year. There is rampant crime, packages are constantly stolen, the apartments are old and falling apart, trash compactors and pools are often closed, mold, rust, and pest problems, the AI “assistant” is frustrating making it nearly impossible to contact the office, and we had a frustrating move out experience. We did have a positive experience with Madisyn in the office and the maintenance team. They were always timely and friendly. We also enjoyed the large green spaces and playground but there is dog poop everywhere.
There are a lot of car thefts and break ins. A steering wheel lock, car boot, and locking lug nuts are a must if you live here. We woke up to our wheel and tire gone and our car left on a jack. (See photo below) It was an expensive replacement and the office was quick to brush it off and keep the incident quiet. As we talked with other residents, we learned that our experience is not uncommon and crime has only become more frequent. The “security” they have does nothing to deter crime as they only patrol once or twice a day at the same time. Also, drivers often speed around corners resulting in crashes that I have witnessed.
Packages are often stolen or delivered to the wrong building. The package lockers in the mail room are not utilized. We had to mail our packages to a friend’s address to ensure we received them.
The apartments themselves are old and falling apart. There are large holes in the walls behind appliances, gaps between baseboards and floors, and poorly maintained vents. We had issues with a cockroach infestation after a new neighbor moved in. The office was prompt about treatment, however, the poor construction of the units made it impossible to completely get rid them. Upon move in, there was rust and mold in the shower and the carpets were fraying and coming up, exposing tacks. Over the last six months of living there, everything was starting to break due to no fault of ours.
The amenities are okay. The pool season never started on time and the pools are constantly closed, often without notice. Last year, my whole family got flu like symptoms from swimming in the C side pool and we later found out it was due to the filter not working. The gym/pool bathrooms are gross (dead roaches, no toilet paper, etc) and not maintained.
Ever since they implemented the AI assistant, it has been nearly impossible to get in contact with the office aside from walking over in person. It has been incredibly frustrating to deal over the past year. We also had a frustrating move out experience and were told conflicting information due to the high turnover of employees.
Overall, not the worst place to live but I would not recommend them after our experience. They are definitely not “luxury” and are over charging. There are better options in the area!
