This apartment complex could have been a decent place to live. But consistent mismanagement, poor communication, and a lack of basic empathy and respect from leadership made living here exhausting. I’ve never left a negative review before, but I feel a responsibility to warn others looking for a safe and stable place to live — especially while the current property manager is there.
1. Repeated administrative failures:
We signed finalized lease documents for three different apartments, and each time management told us the unit was no longer available after we signed. On the third attempt — with both parties signed — they tried to walk away again and “wished us luck.” Only when I pointed out they were legally bound did they let us move in. The only professionalism came from the former manager, Kerre; when she left, so did any reliability.
2. Maintenance ignored unless owners were visiting:
Essential repairs were delayed for weeks or months, while cosmetic tasks were prioritized. They even spray-painted dead grass green before ownership visits (no joke — it looked exactly as bad as it sounds). Meanwhile we had a wall hole large enough for sunlight, chipmunks, and mice, and nothing happened for weeks until I sent a frustrated email. They also admitted their pest control company was ineffective, then fired them without a replacement.
3. A ceiling leak that repeatedly filled our smoke detector with water:
Our ceiling leak went unresolved for over four months. Water leaked into our smoke detector and set it off several times because the wiring kept filling with water. The manager told me we had to “agree to disagree” that there was water damage. Their “solution” was to paint over it instead of fixing the leak and mold. We only got a response after requesting “the appropriate address to which we should send the invoice for the licensed professional we will retain to complete the repair.”
4. Communication with the manager was consistently unprofessional:
I was told her email was “not monitored daily” and her on-site schedule was “private.” The most inappropriate moment came when I referenced the former manager’s compassion during a personal safety situation. She responded with a wildly unprofessional, personal, out of line comment about me before slamming the door in my face. When I went to the office to smooth things over the next day, she repeated this comment in front of my roommate despite this breaking confidentiality laws regarding a legal document she only has access to because of her status as a landlord. I was advised by legal professionals that this was one of many things we could have reported the complex for. I’m honestly shocked there are any positive reviews of her — it seems she only maintains professionalism when nothing is going wrong.
5. Security deposit delays:
Michigan law requires deposits returned in 30 days. Ours took four to five months. We had received written confirmation of our forwarding address months before moving; they still mailed the check to the wrong place. When I asked for proof of mailing, she said she didn’t know how. When I asked for a stop-payment and reissue after two weeks, she replied with passive-aggression that matched her email history:
“I am so incredibly sorry for trying to keep your best interest in mind when asking you to check with the post office first…”
We only got the deposit after referencing legal action multiple times.
To be clear: I’m not asking for warmth — I’m asking for respect, honesty, and accountability, none of which existed under current leadership. Between unresolved leaks, dismissive communication, mishandled inspections, and inappropriate personal remarks, we spent months dealing with issues that should never fall on tenants. We even waited to post this because we were genuinely concerned about retaliation.
Unless there is a complete change in leadership, I cannot recommend this complex to anyone. No one should have to fight this hard just to be safe, be believed, or treated with basic decency where they live.
